TurboGrafx-16 and TurboExpress Secrets

Content

Rusel DeMaria and Andy Eddy join forces to bring you the best tips, secrets, strategies and tactics for laying waste to your foes in the biggest and best TG-16 games around in this third entry to Prima's "Secrets of the Games" series.

Book is mostly text, and black and white, but features copious amounts of screenshots on every game covered:

  • Blazing Lasers
  • Bloody Wolf
  • Bonk's Adventure
  • Double Dungeons
  • Dragon Spirit
  • Dungeon Explorer
  • Keith Courage in Alpha Zone
  • Klax
  • Legendary Axe
  • Legendary Axe II
  • Monster Lair
  • Neutopia
  • Space Harrier
  • Splatterhouse
  • TV Sports Football

Of special note is chapter 25, "A Parents' Guide to Video Games". While this was written in 1990, Rusel's words still ring true today for the most part and his simple observations are well worth considering, even if they might need to be updated for today's more active digital culture. Are games addictive? Can exposure to violence and sexism harm children? Does playing video games make kids more aggressive, or violent, or apt to act out in appropriately? The jury was out at the time of this writing, and they're still deliberating twenty-five years later, but DeMaria makes a number of excellent points backed up by his own personal experience as a gamer since the 1970s and a parent of two children.
