Famitsu Issue 1305 (December 19, 2013)

About This File

This is almost a 300 page mag (296 pgs), but there's one big difference from a similarly-sized American mag:

  • Famitsu 1305: 296 pgs.  33 pages contain advertising
  • EGM 88: 294 pgs.  147 pages contain advertising

Famitsu: 11% ads

EGM: 50% ads

That's even more impressive when you consider that Famitsu produced this much non-advertising content on a weekly basis.  And the Famitsu costs less than the EGM despite having (one would assume) significantly less ad revenue.

Not that I'm knocking ads.  Ads are fun.  Just pointing out a difference.

National Geographic had ads?  It's funny, I definitely don't think of ads when I think of that mag.  High quality printing and photography, sure.  Not ads, though.  What kind of products do they advertise, I wonder?   Cameras and luggage?

Pretty much.

Cars, luggage, travel, and food. Tech as well. There were a few ads for Atari and Intellivision as well in those mags.

Ads were usually in the beginning and very end. The articles would be bookended by them.
