Notable Stuff:
-
The first issue of what would be Sendai Publications' longest-running magazine devoted to computer gaming coverage.
-
Mega Play, Super Gaming, and Electronic Gaming Monthly were all published by Sendai, which is why you see subscription ads for those publications in the pages of a computer mag.
-
Games reviews are graded on a scale of 100 points by multiple reviewers, averaged to give the overall score.
-
Why publisher Steve Harris thought it was wise to include console coverage in a PC-focused magazine is unclear. It doesn't take long for that stuff to fall by the wayside as CGR grows to focus exclusively on computer games.
-
That ad for Chuck Yeager's Air Combat Simulator really shows the gender disparity which was presumed to exist in gaming at the time. This "weak sister" would have been happy to put her skills as a joystick jockey up against Yeager's in 1991.
