Creatin' PDFs or CBR files

Creating PDF's requires 3rd party software unlike CBR's which are merely a renamed rar or zip file. I use Adobe Acrobat which is not cheap. And as I am the only one supplying PDF's and I am hosting them on my personal MU account I'm not actually sure the need is there for a guide?

I don't think anyone ever signed off officially on PDF's to be honest. I sorta railroaded them into the site. :P

Thus far I haven't heard of any problems with mine, which are always zips renamed to cbr.

In Linux (specifically Gnome), if you have a zip file labeled as a CBR file, Document Viewer (the default document reader) will not open it, and it does not show a proper preview icon. It is a good policy to have a proper extension. It is kind of a hassle to have to rename things.

I've had problems with Comical, my image reader, fussing when a .cbr contains a .zip instead of a .rar. A quick rename to .cbz fixes it, but it caused me no end of hassles with re-downloading large files assuming there was some corruption issue when, in fact, it was just a mis-named extension. :)

Question: All you need to do is change the file extension to create a cbr file?

Correct. Once you've created a ZIP or RAR archive, simply edit the file name and change the extension to .cbz (for a ZIP file) or .crb (for a RAR file), and you have a Comic Book Reader format file! :)
