  1. Only my opinion but here it is: 1. Metal Gear Solid. (No need to explain why. It was/is perfect. One of the most memorable pop culture experiences of the entire decade.) 2. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. (Is there a better 2D game on the PSX? No. It's actually one of the best 2D games ever made.) 3. Final Fantasy 7. (This game made the series into one of the biggest moneymakers in gaming history. It was that good.) 4. Resident Evil 2. (One of the finest examples of Survival horror. Stands up well even to this day.) 5. Grand Theft Auto 2. (Excellent game-play with the freedom of the city. Go where you want, do what you want. For the time it was highly original.) 6. Silent Hill. (The first game in the series and a terrific creepy, atmospheric, and original survival horror title.) 7. Driver. (Definitely one of the more important action/driving games of the 32-bit era. Brilliant execution of game-play.) 8. Soul Reaver. (You want a high quality 3D action adventure game? Here it is.) 9. Tekken 3. (The best fighting game of that era. 'Nuff said.) 10. Gran Turismo 2 (Raised the bar for unparalleled realism in a driving game. The original Gran Turismo was excellent. The sequel was even better.)
  2. Found this place via a link in a retro gaming forum - racketboy.
  3. Just the other day got myself a 3DO system- the FZ-1 model. I've owned for quite some time the slim down FZ-10 version, but I've always wanted to own the original Panasonic model. So I got the system together with a few games incl Road Rash. This is probably the best version of the game on any system.
  4. The video games market is certainly not "dying". But what we are starting to see is that with the rise of smart TV's and more powerful mobile devices, and faster Internet speeds, there probably will come a time where a lot of gaming is done as streaming media such as with Onlive. The death of physical media isn't probably too far off. The various ways as a percentage to how we access our games might be very different ten years from now. In other words what percentage will be via physical media, download apps and streaming/cloud gaming?
  5. I remember playing the Turbo at a friends house in the US and saying "wow this is great, I have to have this". I got to play great games like Splatter House ,Legendary Axe, Keith Courage, plus of course everyone's favorite giant head hero- Bonk. Well about a couple months later I ventured off and imported it with the add on CD player which at the time was a bit expensive but I had Y's and Last Alert and nothing else in the world mattered to me at the time. Remembering being the only One on in my province and probably in the country(South Africa) to have this system. I used to have boatloads of Friends come over to play it and Y's was always our Favorite game, that was until China Warrior and Vigilante came home and then the absolutely great shooters on CD - Gates of Thunder and Lords of Thunder, with their awesome soundtrack. As well of course the 2nd greatest Castlevania game (after Symphony of the Night) Dracula X Rondo of Blood. All in all I can say I had some great memories and it helped me make many friends to which this day I still have.
  6. Too many to mention. Every mainstream system from the 2600 up to and incl the Dreamcast. The DC would be the cut-off point to which we refer to as "retro" , right? And a bunch of oddities included in there as well. For the portable systems it's from the Nintendo Game & Watch series up and incl the WonderSwan Color/SwanCrystal. I don't feel the GBA is retro just yet.
  7. I have over 100 PS2 games. Most of my other systems don't come close to that. Although the majority are in the 50+ game range.
