  1. I'd be surprised if it drops much. I dunno if any retailers stock them, but there for a while you couldn't touch one on Amazon for less than $400. Still have yet to find the time to even hook mine up to be honest...
  2. From the ad: "The price is for display purposes only. If you are interested please submit an offer." Probably to keep their chance to snag the highest offer while still letting the auction go for a while...
  3. Honestly, I already have since PTOM stopped. I now have about 3' of shelf space filled with nearly 20 years of Gamepro, PSM/PTOM, EGM, and a couple other randoms thrown in. E-Day, Philly, if ever you guys want to borrow a mostly complete collection of PTOM for archiving purposes, please let me know. I have issues 9, 11-68 (or whatever the very last issue was?), most of them are in quite good condition too.
  4. Now if Future were to do something similar with back issues being a part of a digital subscription, I'd be forking over money to them again. As it is though, they have nothing of interest to me anymore... Like I said above, if said magazines were to give access to their full back catalog of issues going back to their genesis, I'd be over that in a hurry. Would certainly save shelf space haha... Failing that though, why would you pay for the same info you can get on a dozen other sites? The only reason I still liked to sub to PTOM until the end was it gave me something to read on my break at work. As for gaming going completely digital, I *might* see it happening if the price of absolutely massive hard drives drops drastically. As is, some games on PSN are upwards of 30gb. Now if every game were like that, how long would that 1tb drive last? Not nearly long enough for someone who likes to keep their games. As for Gamestop supporting digital distribution only models, how would they make any money? When I buy something on PSN, my money goes to the developer through Sony. Why would anyone want a middle man in this model of business?
  5. Chris, if a digital copy would suffice for now, if you search for psm* (think that was the search term I used...) on here, you will come upon a thread with a bunch of download links that are still working, courtesy of rapidshare. I managed to snag all 4 of the issues (1, 2, 3, and 21) that are listed on the RM download section. Good luck!
  6. Much as I hate to practice necromancy, I feel compelled to bring this thread back from the dead. I understand the difficulties that can be related to torrenting, but all of these posts were from 3 years ago. Is torrenting for many of us not easier now than it was in 2009? I know for me it most certainly is. Not to mention, storage space is cheaper these days too. Now, a couple points I'd like to raise: -Batch torrenting. Rather than individual issues, or complete collections of a particular magazine, what say you to year-by-year or volume-by-volume torrents? I recently came across the Nintendo Power torrents from 1988 through 1995. Wasn't a frequent reader of the magazine, but I like having collections of stuff like this. I've been seeding ever since I came across them, seems I'm in a group of about 10-12 people doing so. -Private torrents. This was mentioned above, with the private tracker thing. Could we not (or is it a gray area) have a section of RetroMags that is only accessable to members, with the links to said torrents? We all know things on the internet have a way of leaking out, but it is certainly one option. I am part of the staff on another forum (my car hobby), and there are plenty of sections on that site that are only accessible to members of various levels. I can't say for certain, but this might be something to do with how the forum software is set up. Might be something to look into for RM 2.0, no? Anyway, my apologies if I'm beating a dead horse, but to me it seems more convenient way of distribution, and I am certainly willing to help out with seeding duties. Also have plenty of storage space on my computer, so there's no issue there. Thoughts? Are we as a group willing to give torrenting another try?
  7. Kegluneq, if you still need it, I have Issue 99 of Gamepro. Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner, but I do have a pretty decent camera if that would do. Just send me a PM or let me know if you still need it.Very interested to see what you come up with, I was incredibly excited to play Resident Evil 2 in its initial form. Now all we have is some video, pictures, interviews, etc... but still no game. Happened with RE4 as well.
  8. Areala, like most awesome things that haven't developed at this point, I like to refer to one of my favorite words: YET. =P
  9. Thanks for the warm welcome Areala (Chrono Crusade reference?), I'll poke around as time allows. I may have to pick up a scanner and help out where I can.
  10. Hello guys and gals, just wanted to introduce myself, the name's Brad. I've been retro gaming since before it was, well... retro haha. Grew up with the NES, Genesis, SNES, PS1/N64, so on and so forth. Very much torn between the SNES and PS1 as the better overall era for gaming in my eyes. Used to subscribe to Gamepro back in the day, before moving on to PSM sometime in 1998. Unfortunately, gave away my PSM collection to the local library for a book sale (d'oh!) after the magazine switched to PTOM in 2008, and sterilized the fun right out of the magazine in the process. As for me, I find that I enjoy reading about or watching games every bit as much as I do actually playing them. Other than that, real life, work, and cars tend to keep me pretty busy for the most part. Looking forward to seeing how Retromags 2.0 shapes up to be, and I'll try to pop in from time to time. Hopefully I can help out somehow, although my magazine collection is somewhat limited compared to what it once was. Take care! =)
