  1. You and yours will be in the prayers and thoughts of me and mine. My mother died of congestive heart failure after fighting cancer for 27 years. It is not easy to deal with and you will eventually find a way, deep down. It sucks and I hate to hear that a friend is going through this. Do your best to be with her as much as possible.
  2. I joined 28-February 08, about 2 1/2 years ago. Seems like it was longer than that.
  3. I am just interested in the EGM's at the moment. I will have to check my list of must haves and see what you have of them. Definitely will be buying some from you though. Thanks for the quick reply.
  4. Interesting selection. What is your policy on combined shipping?
  5. Just a thought but maybe, if possible putting up ads now, for games getting remade or released on VC (a little harder to beat to the punch) will bring in more people googling the title. Like Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 is coming soon. There are rumors in the gaming world about a new Double Dragon, Battletoads and some other old Tradewest/American Technos games too. Oh, and a little game that we never got has been translated to English and is scheduled for release later this year on PSN (hint, it was on Saturn, PSOne and 3DO-in Japan).
  6. If no one else wants them, how much would shipping be? Would they fit in a $15 flat rate box?
  7. Any gaming magazine from any era rather than seeing it thrown away or lost to the scene in some form, honestly.
  8. The ad database was mainly started as a way to have more stuff here for Google and other search engines to catalog and archive and hopefully bring in more visitors. I see nothing wrong with it and some members get a kick out of it. I have referred people to it when asked about certain ads (mainly on podcasts) so it does have a use.
  9. Yeah, if I had known they were that close to being dumped, I would have contacted MrPoopers and offered to be a last chance taker (if no one else spoke up). In fact, if anyone is reading this and planning on offering mags up for shipping or for decent prices (I am not going to pay $400 for Gamefan #1, nor is anyone else from what I see on Ebay) then offer them up, but if no one takes them, contact me, I will. I would rather be in the dilemma of what is best suited for OoPA and what is better for RM than to see the issues get dumped at a local thrift store. I am not knocking MrPoopers, he did what he had to do, we all do when faced with similar situations.
  10. Thank you for letting me know how you feel about it E-day. Your opinion was one that I was thinking about when I wanted to post that I would take some of the mags. I will keep this in mind in the future. My main concern was giving someone actively scanning here to grab them.
  11. Me too. It was more out of respect for the members here that may have been interested in those mags (had I known no one was going to step up and get them, I would have definitely grabbed quite a few of them from you). Maybe someone in a similar situation in the future will be able to hold onto the magazines a little longer (which it is totally understandable, your situation and no one is mad at you about it) so that others can make their voices heard after a respectable period of waiting.
  12. I saw your post (and see that you are a new member on OoPA) and was going to speak up and claim some of your mags but at that time, I didn't think it would have been received too well, me being a co-owner of another magazine preservation site taking dibs on mags offered here.
  13. I know Racketboy has mentioned dropping RM from his twitter account due to the enormous flooding of tweets. I am sure there are others. Besides, if you set it to tweet once every half hour or so, it will be more meaningful to the actual people reading the tweets, and hopefully, those people will come over and join in the conversation. Most will not even see an interesting conversation tweet if it is mixed in with 10+ new file submissions. Just a thought.
  14. I have been meaning to mention the twitter thing, I have been busy these last few weeks with idiots following me around. Anyhow, is there a way to put a mandatory wait period between tweets? I have noticed some days when there are a ton of releases, that it can get quite annoying and usually, the only people reading the tweets after the first couple will be bots (there are a ton of bots on Twitter).
  15. I apologize, I see what you mean now. Yeah, there is no download button on that next page. It just goes to a page about the disclaimer about altering the Thank You page and such. Any moderators around that can look into that? Maybe it is not approved or something yet?
  16. It is a big green banner at the bottom of the file information section that has "download" in it.
  17. Nice to know that Activision is willing to work with fans like this. Now if I can only have half the luck with the games publishers I am in contact with about some fan work.
  18. Nah, that is cool. Thank you though. I will try and see what I can do for one of the other auctions with better condition magazines (it is a bear of a chore to clean up too much after scanning, especially if it can be avoided).
  19. What condition are the EGM's in? Just wondering. Building my collection of those back up.
  20. Get a PSP. It will cover games and reading mags (unzip the JPG's and you can look at them easily on the PSP). Plus, you don't have to stay home to enjoy it (like a home console), just get an anti glare screen protector and you are set for some gaming outside. What issues are in this set: http://cgi.ebay.com/Electronic-Gaming-Monthly-Game-Informer-Expert-XBOX-EGM-/310228314370?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483b0c6902 ?
  21. Yeah, just 6 months ago, those $10 Gamefans were going for $20 to $30 and selling at that price at a fairly fast pace. Believe me, if I had some extra money, I would be grabbing the issues I need (don't have a complete set, mainly missing later issues so it is not that big a deal financially to grab them later). One set I would like to draw some attention to, for anyone here wondering what to grab, is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Game-Players-Video-Game-Magazine-FIRST-ISSUE-1989-NES-/310228141025?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483b09c3e1 and this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Game-Players-Nintendo-Guide-FIRST-ISSUES-1989-Players-/310228139736?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483b09bed8 For anyone interested, those are some extremely rare issues (about $100 worth in each set there during a good economy) and only $5 an issue after shipping is figured in. Think about it, Game Informer/Gamepro etc will cost you at least $7 per issue, plus tax on that and probably not be as entertaining as these issues would be (at least for a retro minded fan).
  22. Seriously, if I was a little more financially sound at the moment, I would purchase much of what you have available. I mean, you have some extremely rare mags up for about $2 an issue (even common mags go for more than that on Ebay). Maybe you could break up the sets or something and do like you did with the Gamefans that you had (that I missed completely) and have two for $10 or something. It might spark some interest in your mags (and allow people that can't quite swing $45 to $50-after shipping, to grab some issues).
  23. If I had the money, Kevin, I would purchase all of your auctions (you have some really really cool stuff there, I see a lot of my childhood there, hopefully someone with the money to spend will see it and feel the same way but be able to act).
  24. Just wanted to mention that a new, and really good, gaming podcast has entered the arena. They are on episode #6 (I was a guest on this episode) and working on #7. So far, they have a great platform to build off of, there are two hosts, one is mainly a retro gamer and the other is more a modern gamer, though both play various games from all generations. It is an unique perspective and one that they are able to make work seamlessly. Definitely check them out, you may just find out that you like their style of podcasting. I personally can't wait for episode #7. http://classicl337.podbean.com/
