  1. I also liked All Bonds, particularly as a Timothy Dalton fan.
  2. In short - the HDMI cable going from the Home Theater reciever to the TV will carry the video over, while still sending the 7.1 sound signal out to the speakers.
  3. Used my $20 Gift Card to Best Buy to pick up Burnout Paradise for the PS3 earlier in the week.
  4. I've been doing reviews and recaps of various issues of EGM on my blog, and I've been giving a shout-out back to Retromags.
  5. If someone could post the URL of their web page when it goes live, that would be much appreciated.
  6. It looks like they charge $.99 US per issue, but what you're getting is a DRM'd file that can only be read with their proprietary reader. Their archive only goes back to April '03 anyway.
  7. Portland, Oregon, USA (basically) - as far as Pro Sports go, we've got the Portland Trail Blazers for basketball and... that's pretty much it - Oh, and we've got minor league Baseball (Portland Beavers) and hockey teams (Winter Hawks). Oh, and I almost forgot our Pro Lacrosse team - the Portland Lumberjax
  8. Me too. The rest of my freaking moments in gaming are more "Oh, frak me!" particularly since they send to be more slow burn moments. ---------------- Now playing: Leo Laporte and the TWiTs - TWiT 178: Call Of Doody via FoxyTunes
  9. I don't know if IPB3 supports Tags, but if it does, I just want to repeat my suggestions on this post here about using tagging to organize the Download Section. This could provide an organic way of organizing the archive. ---------------- Now playing: Leo Laporte and the TWiTs - TWiT 178: Call Of Doody via FoxyTunes
  10. Actually... my EGMs are in storage right now... once I dig them out I'll see which ones we don't have overlap for (and I'll try to compare them to the scans we've currently got so I can try to cover the gaps. Plus, I'm kicking myself for getting rid of some GameFans a few years ago, particularly because I'm insanely certain that I've got a few issues we're missing. ---------------- Now playing: Leo Laporte and the TWiTs - TWiT 178: Call Of Doody via FoxyTunes
  11. As far as organizing the site goes... there are three ways we could go about doing this that come into my head. Tags: Tagging would be done by "editors" and people submitting magazines, which limits tag bloat. This way a magazine could be tagged by Country Of Origin, Console (or computer platform) of focus (or a "general" category for magazines like EGM or Gamefan), Magazines or Strategy Guides, and format type (cbr or pdf). And maybe year. Same: Using the same format we're doing now. Catagory Restructure: Restructuring the category system for whatever new format we want to do. Such as... Country of Origin ->Platform -->Title of Magazine Strategy Guides would be either organized by platform, or if they're put out by a magazine (such as Nintendo Power's official strategy guides) they'd be put under that magazine. EDIT: Oh, and how the color scheme goes, this scheme is fine, though a lot of the retro consoles that weren't from Sega (before the Dreamcast) were a soft-white, which could work here. ---------------- Now playing: Leo Laporte and the TWiTs - TWiT 178: Call Of Doody via FoxyTunes
  12. This is a tough one for me to go with, but I'm going to go with the NES, as that's the first console I ever really owned. I ended up skipping the 16-bit generation - only buying a Genesis recently, and was a latecomer to the Playstation.
  13. Yeah, the Final Fantasy Collection was for the PS1, either Anthologies or Chronicles, I forget (Origins worked just fine).
  14. Thus far I'm on issue 1 & 2, with them releasing peripherals for the Atari 7800, NES and Mega Drive. ---------------- Now playing: 1UP Staff - 1UP.com - 1UP Yours - 08/22/2008 via FoxyTunes
  15. I'm going through the archives of EGM and planning to chart the evolution of the magazine on my blog, and I've been seeing a lot of ads and articles for Beeshu peripherals in the magazine. I'm wondering what happened to them? Did they go out of business, get bought out by MadCatz or Hori or what?
  16. Mine wasn't reading some of my Final Fantasy collections, and it stopped reading my copy of Growlancer Generations entirely. ---------------- Now playing: 1UP.com Staff - Retronauts Podcast Episode 63 via FoxyTunes
  17. Well, a little before I got the PS3, I got a slimline PS2 for the family, so I do have a backup (besides, my old PS2 was one of the larger models which didn't handle older PS1 games that well anyway.
  18. I buy used when I can, and buy new games after they've been out for a while and the price has gone down, and for some new games I just rent them - particularly ones that won't take very long to beat (Path of Neo for instance). For new games I really want, I pre-order several months in advance and put a moderate amount down, so I can spread the damage to my budget out over time, rather than one large whack. Oh, and for old consoles where I've got a newer version with backwards compatibility (like my 60GB PS3) I trade the old console in. Now, I'm still hanging on to my Genesis and everything, but I don't need the PS2 taking up space in my entertainment center if I've got a PS3 that will play PS2 games, so why not get the PS2 to someplace where it will get a good home - rather than filling up a landfill.
  19. The only game that ever made me want to throw my controller was KOF Maximum Impact - on the last boss. No other game (including other SNK games) has had that effect.
  20. Final Fantasy 6 Final Fantasy 5 Final Fantasy 7 Final Fantasy Tactics. Disgaea (1 & 2) La Pucelle Tactics Persona 3: FES (I'm a bad boy - I haven't played 4 yet). Kingdom Hearts 2. KotOR
  21. Well, if we're going that way, then before I got Dragon Warrior, I got Gateway to Aphsai (that's probably spelled wrong) for the Atari 800. That game was probably my first introduction to the Roguelike* (though the dungeons weren't actually randomly generated) and, for that matter, exploiting the (nonexistant) pathfinding AI of the enemies for cheap kills (enemies went on a straight line towards you, meaning that if you interposed a corner between you and them just right, you could take them out without fear of retribution. It's, technically, the first RPG I ever beat too. *Yes, I know it's not a proper roguelike - for starters the dungeons weren't randomly generated, but it's close enough for government work. ---------------- Now playing: 1UP.com Staff - Retronauts Podcast Episode 53 via FoxyTunes
  22. Final Fantasy 1 for the NES, but at a friend's house. The first one I bought was Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest I, and it's the first CRPG that I beat.
  23. Hmm... that's a toughie. Most of what I play in arcades more than anything else are light gun games, shmups, and the occasional fighting game. So, I'm going to go with... Raiden Gauntlet Time Crisis 4 Street Fighter 3 Star Wars Trilogy Arcade House of the Dead 4 Guilty Gear XX Reload (was there an arcade release of this game?) Macross Plus (the one that was sort of a 19xx-alike - that one - I thought it was fun.) 1942 (sharing the love amongst the franchise). Street Fighter 2 Turbo ---------------- Now playing: 1UP.com Staff - Retronauts Podcast Episode 49 via FoxyTunes
