Alienware is nice for there Laptops .....but Dell is horrible for replacing parts .....I fix computers every day ....and most Dell customers end up leaving with there computer and a phone number for Dell :(

We arent sitting on the releases.......scanning isnt too much of a problem .....but the editing of those scans is whats taking a long time ......I can now scan at the very least 1-2 mags a day.......but i dont want to release them until they have been edited properly Compared to your analogy .....it would be like dumping the games but not writing an emulator to play them correctly

Had a few people ask me about newsgroups and how they work..... well newsgroups are kinda like this forum at Retromags ......Users can post messages and other Users can reply to those messages....Newsgroups can fall into 2 catagories .....Text and Binary Text Newsgroups are usually for discussions.......Binary newsgroups are for posting files....You can still talk on Binary Newsgroups but as you will learn it gets pretty messy with all the files getting posted....Binary Newsgroups carry everything from books , music, programs, movies, games....you name it So basically what do you need to get started with Newsgroups 1 . An Subscription to a Newsgroup server.....most ISP's give you access but restrict your downloads to 1-2 gigs per month....So your gonna need a Premium Newsgroup Service.....Expect $15-$40 a month .....but its soooooooo worth it ....i have www.newshosting.com $15 for UNLIMITED DOWNLOADS ! 2. A Newsgroup Reader......I like Newsbin Pro.....it is only $30 and has FREE LIFETIME UPGRADES....you pay once and never have to pay again....this rules and the program is awesome www.newsbinpro.com 3. WinRar and WinAce .......your gonna need Archive readers ....most posts on Newsgroups are Rar'd files 4. Par Program.......Whats a Par Program ?? Well basically when a file gets posted to Newsgroups ....sometimes errors can sneak into the post .....A Par Program basically checks the CRC of each file and corrects any mistakes that may have crept into the post....Also Sometimes Not all pieces of the post will propogate thru the servers....PAR files allow you to rebuild parts of the post that you may be missing....SmartPar and QuickPar are both Free Programs and work wonders.....you shouldnt need to use them that much either...Premium Newsgroup Servers usually have a good retention 5. a NFO reader.....most of you should already have one but if not ....search Google for DAMN NFO ....its free ......if not you can read NFO files with Notepad So why should you use Binary Newsgroups ......well first there are OVER 100,000+ groups to look thru Anything you could ever want to find can be found on Newsgroups......and while the media is concentrated on P2P and Torrents ......us Newsgroupers slide past there radar Any Questions about Newsgroups Feel Free to ask .... Most of those are already scanned.......But some of the newer issues we dont have.....check your message box

Unfortunatly i cant see downloading the releases from this website to be an option :( Given each release is between 80mb-120mb .......My hosting service only allows me 10gigs 140 issues of Nintendo Power 80mb a piece Thats over 10 gigs right there ......Doesnt even take in the fact of the PSM mags So that feature probably wont be available But Yes I will create a Thread of Whats been released.....Probably on Saturday On the subject of a NFO's .......Yes i would love to create some .....but i cant find a format i like ......Something simple is all we need The Site name in Ascii at the top The Release Name The Release Date The Release Size The Link to the Subscribing page (to support the publisher) The Scanner/Editor of that Mag Something like that .......Be nice to have some fancy ASCII borders or something .....if someone wants to draw up a template .....i am all up for it

Unfortunatly that set went for $55 on Ebay........maybe next time we can get a few people to chip in for it

Yes.......On average i am scanning 3-5 issues a day.......its just waiting for them to be edited and distributed Gamepro Issue 1 went out last week PSM Issue 1 went out today

I was only posting in the DS group because of the following The Nintendo DS .....you can buy a flash card and play all the old Nintendo games right off your DS So i figured .....most of the people that are downloading these DS roms (which i am against) must own a flashcard ......and maybe they use the flashcards for NES emulation .....and would be interested in the old mags Oh well .....no skin of my back

When i was into Halo 2 Heavily.......i swear the snipers all had 52 inch TVs .....and didnt even have to zoom in to get a headshot

I had to replace my powersupply.........anyways the harddrive with all the scans is in another computer right now :( ......but honestly i dont see why you dont get a AIM screen name and then people on your list could automatically send you issues without having me as a middleman.....anyone has to have a better upload then me By the way i am scanning 5 Nintendo Power issues tonite with the new scanner .......did 2 yesterday Oh yeah!

I think most people voted for NES because that was a huge turning point in videogames But Still SNES is where it began to be awesome for me ......jeez how many hours did i loose on that system

We are looking for someone with a Fast Upload speed ......that can release to Newsgroups for us This person would get issues before everyone else .......and would be a welcome addition to our group I was the original person doing it .....but it gets to be too much for me to do everything :( So if we could find someone that wouldnt mind spending the time to post 1 or 2 mags a week for us ....that would be great Rapidshare is something that if someone wants to do it ....thats great ......if not .....doesnt matter to me
