  1. FULL COLOR with all details fully revealed. Now if someone had the one for DOOM posted I would be happy
  2. You missed one Myst Brady Games 1996 I am planning on both scanning and posting this one
  3. You will not believe it's also fan made, those screen shots will speak for themselves http://www.sonicretro.org/2010/09/still-unnamed-unity-based-fan-project-releases-new-screens/
  4. I want to openly thank E-Day for helping me. It seems there more to posting a magazine than just submitting it. First of all making sure there are no overscanning, and that the images are clean, not to mention reducing the pixel width to 1600 or less. That is what I am doing with the Dec 1990 issue of Game Pro. I just finished page 27 out of 212. This is going to take awhile. Once this is done of course I have a couple of issues I plan to submit. Also the Myst Guide, I have the PS1 version and I discovered a bug in the game some might find interesting. Once you activate all the switches on the island you and finish the game.
  5. I have XP and I have not installed the comic book reader. I just unpack the files and view them that way.
  6. actually 5 years old and I only have 512MB of RAM which is the real problem, and btw GIMP works. I tested out a few pages and once I reduce them down below 1600 wide right around 1MB of course I forgot I scanned the Dec 1990 issue of Game Pro at 150 dpi. Now the only real problem is cleaning up the pages...they are a mess, this is going to take time. I think the real problem is when you have the money your used to a real good program. But when you work for min. wage like me and haven't got a lot of cash to spare you have to make do with what you got, and free programs. I did not even buy my 1st digital camera until last year.
  7. For the record I have 2 scanners a flat bed Cannon and a HP 2120 all in one at 300 dpi I can do roughly 40 pages straight to jpeg per hour, but due to a bad back I limit my scanning to just an hour or so at a time. I love your suggestions I check that out with GIMP. My computer is a but old too run Photoshop it frankly can't handle it. I got a question for you experts around here, about how small should be the image file after I reduce it. Like the 1.8 to 2.7 MB files I have seen on magazines I downloaded or what?
  8. I have a bit of a question/ problem which I hope someone here can at least give me some advice. You see I don't have a copy of Photoshop for the simple reason I can't afford it. Money is tight with me, I frankly don't have a lot of it. I have been needing some RAM for this old laptop of mine but other expenses get in the way. My first submission here did not quite go as well as planned. I tried uploading to Megaupload and all I got was error messages but I figured out a way around it, namely 4shared.com . Also I did not shrink the pixels or fix the pages, thankfully E-Day is quite understanding, even with the 2 pages I missed. I can fix the pages meaning over scanning and rough edges with a combo of Photostudio 5 and GIMP, Photostudio actually came with my Cannon Scanner and I really like to program, it is very easy to use. The real problem I am asking about is the shrinking of pixels The only program I have to do this is MS Paint I found the setting of 60 for both horizontal and vertical does it. I get 1450 x 1935 which is well within this site's guideline. My only question it seems is file size you see MS Paint also brings down the file size to 491K and that's on a 300 dpi scan. Would there be any problems submitting an issue?
  9. It's waiting for approval...also I had some problems even though I tried to submit a reduced cover scan the damn thing would not upload. I honestly got an error message Here it is any way http://i769.photobuc...zinedude/01.jpg Here is something I just noticed today I have the Dec 1990 issue of Game Pro already scanned I am going to try and submit this later this week.
  10. Common sense won, the burning was called off.
  11. Okay so it's been a while call it a combo problem of the heat we were having and me feeling the effects of heat stress. But now according to my doctor I am finally recovered it's time to start scanning again. Which I will do later today or tomorrow. But I already did my 1st test today and getting the image down to 1.8 MB so I could post it on Megadupload is now only a matter of finishing up the issue and setting up an account there. But here is the real shocker the issue I am scanning is Game Informer Nov 1997 the one with Final Fantasy 7 on the cover.. Will let you know when all is done.
  12. Since no one has anything to say I'll think I will add this. My favorite PSU easter egg no joke is a Atari 7800 commercial for Desert Falcon
  13. You could call it both a very unique magazine as well as a great marketing tool. It's also a magazine that could never be posted here, what I am talking about is the Playstation Underground I own all 17 issues and am wondering both are there any other collectors here and would any one like to talk about it.
  14. But may I remind you this topic does say starting point for new members
  15. One comment that uploading a magazine link, it leads you to an error message
  16. Here is a real simple solution.....simply unpack the files and view them as image files.

    Retromags F.A.Q.

I was going to post this separately but I think more than 1 new members could be wondering this like me. Submitting magazines, strategy guides what ever. Question #1 What DPI should I use ? With my scanner an HP F2120 all in one, a 150 dpi scan of a magazine page averages just over 1 MB, while a 300 dpi file ranges from 3 to 6 MB. And unless I run them through another program I can't make them any smaller. My main concern is that I have a 1.5 mbps connection and my upload speed is pretty slow only around 300K. I don't link the idea of taking an hour to upload a really huge file, so is 150 okay? Q2: What is the whole approval process is any way and how long does it usually takes. Q3: About filling out that upload file form you have. I understand the Megaupload link, I know bandwidth can get expensive. But that file upload is that for the cover.
  18. The one thing that amazes me since I have been going both here and the out of print archives site the pure number of gaming and computer mags I never heard of before.
  19. I am asking this so I don't get in trouble around here. I have a few magazines you don't have posted here and the wiki says they are missing, which are good enough reasons. I plan to do them as cbr files.,they seem to be the easiest to do. I noticed when I download some mags the cbr file is usually zipped or rarred. Would it be against the rules to use this new compression file format I came across recently it's called 7zip it's free and open source. I think it's a pretty amazing format, recently I downloaded this file actually it was 2 40MB files split. When I uncompressed them using 7zip it came to 1 600MB file and it works fine. Any problems?
  20. Then you talking about Dangerous Waters newsletter, I am unsure if the gameboy gameshark was out then. But anyway have you tried www.gscentral.org ? Recall the old code creators club, this is them. You would not believe some of the codes I found there.
  21. I posted the 1st issue on Photobucket and you be the judge http://s769.photobucket.com/albums/xx333/magazinedude/Gamesharkmag/
  22. Yep GameShark magazine it was originally published by InterAct as a magazine upgrade to their Dangerous Waters newsletter. I believe I have a complete collection scanned, and the strangest thing I discovered there is no mention of it on Wikipedia. Each issue of the magazine naturally had GameShark codes, but game reviews as well. InterAct also used it to plug new products as well. If you like to see 1 I can post it on my Photobucket account.
