  1. My parents have has one for about 2 years and have had no problems with it. Meanwhile, their first PS3 was a piece of junk that they had to exchange. Yes, my parents still play video games
  2. That's a lot of money for magazines that you are going to slice up (i.e destroy) for scanning. I'll dontate $10 for the lifetime membership when I get home from work. ^_^ How do I buy a lifetime membership while I have a membership already until June?
  3. Peste Phillyman about it. He has a bunch waiting to be scanned . I offered to help edit them and such. So hopefully more can get out quicker.
  4. I voted for EGM since there aren't that many done yet, and Phillyman has a ton waiting, but I would also like to see more GamePro. Those were my two favourites.
  5. Phillyman has professed to me that he owns the following issues of EGM when we were discusiing the auctions I will be going after: 014, 016, 017, 018, 019, 021, 022, 024, 025, 026, 028, 030, 031, 032, 033, 034, 035, 036, 037, 038, 039, 040, 041, 042, 043, 045, 046, 047, 048, 049, 050, 051, 052, 053, 054, 056, 058, 059, 062, 065, 066, 068, 069, 070, 071, 072, 073, 074, 076, 078, 079, 080, 081, 083, 084, 086, 087, 088, 089, 090, 092, 093, 094, 096, 097, 098, 099, 100, 101, 118, 162, 163, 164, 166, 172, 173, 175. For those keeping track by Year and Month, it works out s follows: 1990 (3) September, November, December 1991 (8) January, February, April, May, July, August, September, November 1992 (12) January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December 1993 (11) January, February, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December 1994 (6) January, March, May, June, September, December 1995 (9) January, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, November 1996 (10) January, February, March, April, June, July, September, October, November, December 1997 (10) January, March, April, May, July, August, September, October, November, December 1999 (1) May 2003 (6) January, February, March, May, November, December 2004 (1) February
  6. I'm willing to help edit, as I mentioned in my last PM to you this morning. Yay!
  7. Anyone who is interested in EGM should take a look at this auction. 6 issues from 1992, including the mega awesome December 1992 issue. Mega awesome because it's 290 pages . I know some of those 6 issues are already scanned (2 or 3); I'd be willing to buy the issues already done, or donate towards the cost of the auction. 3.5 days left! EDIT: Actually, here are a pile more: 9 Issues from 1991 8 Issues from 1992 (including the awesome Dec. 1992 issue!) All 12 issues from 1993 10 issues from 1994 including the 400-page+ December issue! 8 issues from 1995 WOW! What an opportunity. If help is needed with funds, I can help out a bit to make sure this site gets those magazines. Just PM me if you need assistance.
  8. There it is! My review is up now. YIPPEE!!
  9. eday2010. I added mine just now, but it hasn't shown up yet
  10. I give it a 9, simply because I wish they'd used more of the past Mario music, and because to me the perfect Mario game is still 2D
  11. Yes, you people are the worst! I was born in Montreal, and I hate that city! I live in Ottawa, Ontario; Canada's Capital. It's nice to see most people here are from North America. Another forum I frequent (Sega8bit.com) is swarming with Brits and Europeans.
  12. Reruns and hockey! Though Lost is starting tonight...but that show isn't as good as it used to be.
  13. Positive. As kbf pointed out, they advertise it in their magazine, but only provide an 800 number. It may turn out that they only have recent back issues, and not issues fro mback in the day. They advertised back issues in the early 90's and already some of the first issues were not available. So until someone calls the number, it will be a mystery as to what they have available
  14. GamePro currently offers back issues of their magazine, so they are still profiting from their back catalogue. I used to have a huge pile of their magazine back in the 90's, which I no longer have, along with EGM. Ideally I would still have them, but I don't. So having electronic copies, while not perfect for me, is a good replacement.
  15. I won a November 1994 issue of GamePro that I want to send to someone on here. I PM'ed Phillyman, but he has yet to respond. Any scanners who want to scan it can PM me their address and I will try to get the seller to ship it to you.
  16. Including the heatsink fan, I have 5 fans in my computer. Needless to say it stays nice and cool, but it kind of sounds like a nuclear reactor coming online. Overall the fans I added are quite quiet, though they are only a year old. If I were you, I'd either get new fans, or try what Gnash suggested. That, or you can build an acrylic case, remove all the fans, and submerge your computer (minus power supply and optical drive) in mineral oil, distilled water. Not terribly convenient, but all your geeky friends will find it fascinating
  17. If it was me, and I had the money, I would go quad. Duo is good too, but I would go the one step up so that I could theoretically run 4 progames at once without noticing any sluggishness. I often run multiple programs at once, and a couple of them are usually resource-heavy. So if I could have two cores take care of that while I dick around with Winamp inbetween songs, I'd be happy. I've never used a quad-core machine, so I do not know if I would actually notice a difference or not. If you have the money to futureproof the system for a long while, go for it. If you want to not spend too much or if this system isn't meant to last years and years, stick with a duo.
  18. That is awesome. I love that old school stuff. I never read Game Players, but can't wait to see this one.
  19. I saw a decent amoutn of Wii games until the day after Boxing Day (December 26). After Boxing Day, most of the Wii games were pillaged from Wal-Mart. They also has PS2s on sale for $99, but those didn't seem to be moving. Had I the money, I would have grabbed one.
  20. Except that it's not as good as the 16-bit war. At least not in my eyes. What made that war so great was the advertising campaigns. Most of those who say the Wii is a fad have either not played it, or were against it before they tried it. I find the Wii's controls, especially for Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy, to be incredibly awesome. Much more involving than a standard gamepad, that's for sure. And even a bit more skillful too.
  21. Seasons 1 to 3 of Sliders on DVD, slippers, chocolate, a blanket, an Ottawa Senators jersey, a Wii and Super Mario Galaxy
  22. I'm leaving for Christmas tonight, but when I get back at the end of the month I will be putting 5 magazine releases (3 GamePro and 2 EGM I think), on MegaUpload. I would have already done it, but have been busy in the last couple of weeks. I won't bother with torrents right now since they don't get seeded, and about after a week of seeding, no one was even downloading them.
  23. I don't know. I think it will take more than next year for the PS3 to overtake the 360. Even with the proce drop it's still pretty pricey. Plus when you buy a PS3, you are almost committing yourself to the Blu-ray format. Personally, I think Blu-ray is much better than HD-DVD and hope it wins, but I won't commit yet. I'd rather get a Wii and an LG Super Blu Player so I can buy both formats
  24. I have used Azureus for a few years now. I like it, but it's a resource hog, especially since the update to Azureus "Vuze". Bloated garbage. I may downgrade to an earlier version or change to something else. I'd like something a bit less demanding on my system.
