  5. Hey the funny thing about all this talk about "old school generation" just when we thought we've seen the last of it after 2001, 9 years later its coming back.
  6. i agree with your statement, PS2 wasn't much of an impact. Sony fans were still stuck and well attached to their PSX that i myself became one with my Playstation One, 1, PSX. PS2 was like a roadblock, something to keep us busy so Sony could work on the PS3. I imagine it went like this "here's something to give our fans busy in the meantime while we come up with something new".
  7. I wasn't too fond of the PS2 i believe it was just a "distraction" or "side track" to lure fans away from what to ultimately expect from the PS3, i believe, in my opinion, that Sony used the PS2 to lure their fans money so they can use that to create the PS3. i think too much about conspiracies.
  8. 1987 - 2000 Sure i am proud and happy about growing up in the gaming era i was raised in! *Lights Dim* Although i'm not happy to say i'm not happy with the way things are in the gaming world today, especially with our younger generation. I find it funny how all of us Veterans of The Gaming World talks as if we served in WWII.
  9. And Super Mario RPG and other's that i know are out there.
  10. I'm pretty sure everyone has a OCD when it comes to playing your favorite game or do you have a pet peeve you would like to share? I'll start off by sharing some of my pet peeves as I recollect from my memories. Mega Man Invincibility Mode.. for 3 seconds. What sucks about this is, yes it can help you get pass the spiky walls and enemies that can do heavy damage but the one thing that sucks is it does take alot of damage along with it. Toad Man - Can't stand this boss, because all he does is just back and forth attacking you from left and right, when your out of pattern he starts doing some crazy ass shit. Blue Bot can't duck! - Sure he leaps from buildings, defeats robots, obtains new abilities, gets his configuration molested by a dirty old white man, saves the day but there's one thing he can't do. HE CAN'T FREAGIN DUCK! Not until the X4 Series, only 20XX Years later, Capcom decided to give Mega Man kneecaps so he can duck! Tomb Raider for the PSX Camera Work - The first i played this game was when i was trying to reach the cave at the very beginning of the game but in order to do that you would need to wall kick and then do some flip just to get reach to the top. What makes it worst is that the camera isn't helping it all! Just like in Spyro the Dragon. Spyro the Dragon Camera Work Worst - Overall the camera work in this game makes me dizzy i wanted to throw up. Fatal Frame "Help me because I'm a petite little girl" - I haven't played the series because it looks scary LOL , but by watching the gameplays on youtube, your character moves so fuken slow! that its like she wants to be attacked by the ghost!. Nintendo DS Make that Extra Large, with the same toppings! - WTF Nintendo is it your turn to jump the band wagon with Sony in making these from smaller to larger, just as Sony always comes out with a smaller edition of every console they release. which leads me to Sony Playstation XLG, LG, M Does it come in Small? - Seriously Ken Kuturagi, you tortured us by exciting your fans by making us pay $500 for a newly released console, after the Honeymoon Stage, and everyone has calmed down, you make an even smaller size of the PSX, PS2, and PS3. What pissed me off was when i bought my first 120 GB PS3 last year, the next following week they came out with the PS3 Slim with the same amount of GB, WTF?! and it also came with a smaller price tag! Double WTF?! WTF?! So it went from a George Foreman Grill to one of those binders from the 90s i forgot what was the name of it but if you had it with you in school, you were like the coolest kid in the class. "Headlines "Ken Kuturagi retires from Sony" - Thanks alot asshole you were a great creator i might add, i do respect you, but don't walk out on your beloved fans. Metal Gear Solid Hideo Kokima Ends the Saga - When i heard MGS4 would be last of Solid Snake, i went into to total depression, flashback memories of when i was a kid back in the 91 or 92 when i first met Solid Snake on the NES were hitting in my head. I went on every Metal Gear Solid Video i could find on youtube in 2008 and started flooding comment box. To be con't
  11. I feel like restarting hmmmm Final Fantasy VI Super Mario RPG Secret of Evermore Secret of Mana, never got to beat it. and more to come.
  12. The first Video Game console i actually had was the NES but the first VG Console i bought with my mom at that time because i was still young, was actually the PSX, my parents bought both the NES and SNES but i don't remember me being there at the store with them to buy it.
  13. It's like the game is controlling what you should do then to have fun with what you're doing in the game, like you said Thor it felt more like a chore than a video game.
  14. Don't be mad at yourself, i was having high hopes for FFXIII too, but it didn't live up to any FF Fans expectations. For the first time EVEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR in history, i had to turn down a Final Fantasy Game, and i was sad that i felt that way when i played the first few minutes of FFXIII, yes minutes not. the first 3 minutes i was already saying "your going back to Gamestop"
  15. I told you so and you didn't want to believe us, now you spent your money on something worthless and meaning less a game without emotion, i don't blame you because i did the same and refunded it at my local Game Stop, What did I tell ya? It's not worth your time. its like the game was just thrown in together without any love in it or capturing emotions. And really when you ask people that cook your food for you, you ask them "what's in this recipe that makes it so good?" and they say "It's the love" really it really is the love that they put into it. but with FFXIII i didn't feel any love, nor attention compared to previous FF titles.
  16. ROFL It looks like a NES character like that blue blob in not boy and his blob but i think the one from SNES. You could see its red eyes and black D-Pad looking like ears.
  17. You know what's so bad about this game, everything, and since it didn't capture my attention for the first 4 hours, i just put down the controller, turned off my PS3 and didn't want to continue. as a matter of fact, when i first played the game i was waiting for the old "Final Fantasy Main Theme" to be playing just like all the other Series, but you know what? it didn't play it played something else! it didn't go *sings the overtune of Final Fantasy*
  18. O-M-G i only got like 4 hours into the game were after fighting the first Fal'Cie whatever the hell their called, i'm now in a place where everything is frozen and there finding their way, and i'm already getting impatient seeing where the storyline gets interesting, for me, the storyline isn't getting interesting. for the first time ever, this is the First Final Fantasy game i don't want to continue playing. I've dealt with Final Fantasy X, that was the first FF game i wasn't too sure about but just kept on playing even though i didn't do much but just straight forward get to the end. Final Fantasy X-2, never tried it, didn't want to give it a try, so i didn't bother because it was like some product made just for Anime fans right after FFX instantly made fans saw that Tidus and Yuna made a cute couple and starting putting shit like this > "Tidus and Yuna make a very cute couple than Cloud and Tifa kekekeke ^_^" *rolls eyes* Final Fantasy Online i don't even know what number that is, i didn't even want to bother touching it, never took a look at it as a matter of fact, it made me go to WoW instead of going to it. Final Fantasy XII, was decent, what i liked about it, no love storyline, it was about war, but it didn't feel like Final Fantasy anymore, felt more like some political warfare game like if Call of Duty was to go RPG it would look like this. And Finally, [no cliche intended], Final Fantasy XIII, your a huge disappointment, i thought you were gonna save us and bring back "Old School" Final Fantasy but nah, you did brought back the mushy love storyline but that didn't do justice. Lets see what Final Fantasy versus will bring to the table. The genre is starting to remind me of Pokemon, it first had pokemon battle games, now pokemon party games. When it comes to old school fans vs. new school fans it reminds me of Old ECW vs. WWE's ECW.
  19. I believe its better if Final Fantasy just stick to the traditional old school battle system and leveling up system. I like FFX and FXII leveling up system on obtaining skills, abilities, and magic, but FFXIII overall doesn't have that true Final Fantasy feeling anymore, its as if the creator just put a pile of shit together and said "here's an rpg, lets just call it Final Fantasy and maybe our fans will buy it" thats like me making some random RPG game and calling it Final Fantasy, anyone can do that.
  20. You know its funny you should say, i woke up at the middle of the night to attend to the midnight release of FFXIII at gamestop, waited there for about 40 minutes while watching my gay friend who works there [hes not gay im just saying he is ] host a Final Fantasy Quiz Contest and Karaoke contest, didn't let me participate, and i spent $60.00 on this piece of Awful Final Fantasy series. I didn't open it two days later and today when i got my hands on it, already the first 5 minutes into the game, my reaction is "i don't like it, this is disappointing, i want my money back" It didn't have that same initial feeling of Final Fantasy anymore, it felt more like a different game itself that detached itself away from the Final Fantasy genre. What happen to the Dungeons and Dragons and Ye old medieval type genre, what happen to the castle and far away lands environment that felt like it was the 1400s or so? Holy shit and your right there turning Final Fantasy into some fan whore game. i asked one of my colleagues at college and i asked him one of the FF Quiz questions that i've heard that night at the release "Who was the main character of Final Fantasy V?" he said to me "I don't know, I started playing Final Fantasy only from 7 and all the way up" Ever since FFX came out thats when alot of people started claiming to call themselves "FFFanatic" or "i'm a fan of Tifa and Cloud because they make a cute couple" None of these guys know their shit and none of them are true gamers. I've started and to be honest with Final Fantasy IV then worked my way up and then when it got to Final Fantasy X, i was upset so i went back down the ladder to the series that was on the NES. So i think the FF Series has FINALLY died off and become nothing more than mushy love storylines, graphics whore, and "oh is there going to be a movie released for this?" type of genre towards to Kawaii, Otaku, and Anime fans. You can never really find any true gamers today walking the lands except on the net like here in Retromags who know their Video Game History shit. Also my reaction towards the FFXIII game, I HATE IT, the battle system is simple they just made it look complicated by adding chain commands and One Potion can heal an entire party like Elixirs or X-Potions, its becoming way too easy for the younger and wannabe generation.
