Makes sense, not to mention th at this would still put it on the market before the PS3 by a few days, which I know they want to do.

http://tinyurl.com/q3nfa Go check it out .... if you follow the link to the content, you can tell it's being viewed from a CBR file ... thus, no doubt it's a Retromags scan! Very crazy stuff (the content, not the linking)
-
Should this be down, I have an alternate web server that you can use for collaboration. I can PM anyone interested the details.
-
As long as the analog sticks feel good, that's a pretty good deal. Heck, use it 'til it wears out, even if it's only a couple of months, still a good price.

It's sad that the Internet's nature is for stuff to just get passed on and be shared, it is sadly though how it is. That is also very true about PDF, there's a lot more document security that can be applied to it, the concern would be if images would have the same level of quality that they do in the CBR packages do now. And it also bears discussion as to whether a watermark on certain pages is a good idea. One on the PSM book actually helped us figure out where our scans were going with some good eyes, so while yes, it does take away some from the authenticity, it could be a necessary evil.

I agree with the other sentiments here. These emulators will certainly get there at some point, but you're not going to get huge results from either. If you're asking what kind of card though you would want to make sure you're prepared, go with these features: * PCI Express - If the motherboard is new enough to support PCI Express, get a card to match. It will have enough 2D horsepower for your MAME functions, most likely multimonitor support for games which can now use that, and plenty of video RAM, more then emulators require. * TV Out - So that you can more accurately match up a real TV with emulators, make sure it's got a TV Out function, or that you are plugging it into a HDTV with VGA or DVI inputs. The composite will best simulate that old TV feel, but nonetheless, you want to be playing these games on a 40-inch TV, not always a 15-inch monitor (laptops can prove especially useful here!) If it has these features, you've got a good enough card for emulation purposes. That, and a CPU with some juice behind it, becase most video enhancement features aren't dumped off to the video card, they're done with CPU cycles, so raw horsepower will always be needed.

Just looked again, it's up to $15.60 ... we still gonna bid on this?

One more. This is untested, but the site I got it from (antirebate.com) is very reliable for good deals. http://promotions.vzwhub.com:88/HubRemotin...omoCode=MAG_SUB Enjoy EGM until 2020 or something.

Racketboy.com Ripping Off Our Work (resolved)
sav2880 replied to Phillyman's topic in Retromags News
Racketboy, Go check out the introductory post I put under "Retromags News", it'll getcha going on where to find the magazines quickly. -
With the influx of new people visiting the site for a myriad of reasons (mostly due to the now good fortune of having one racketboy find our works and now link back over to this site), many people are coming in looking for magazines. I wanted to let everyone know a little more about this and how they can help Retromags out: First of all ... HOW CAN YOU HELP OUT? The main way is simple ... become a premium member and help our community grow! Not only does Retromags.com strive to be a group dedicated to magazine releasing, but it also strives to be a great community of users who enjoy the games of days' past and talking about them, thus the extra emphasis on community items like the arcade, and Forum RPG system. You can gain access to even more great things on this site in one of two ways: 1) Subscribe to the site. The donations all go directly to purchasing more magazines for scanning, hosting expenses, and purchasing site additions to help make the process of scanning and editing more palatable for more people. Once you've logged in, go to the "My Controls" link and then you will see a link for "Purchase Paid Subscriptions". There's an offer right now to help with collaboration software that allows you to subscribe for $7 for 6 months. That's not much more then what you would have paid for a real issue on the newsstand, and it goes to help this site maintain and keep up its great work. 2) Participate! All users who post 100 times (that's a lot of posts yes, but the more someone posts, the more people reply, and the more community grows) gain access to the Magazine Section of the forum and gain many of the benefits that subscribed users get too. That leads to ... WHERE ARE THE GOODS? The magazines are NOT hosted on the site itself. There's a lot of reasons for this, mostly because of not wanting to get Nintendo all hot and bothered (although I am sure they appreciate the free press for their soon-to-be Virtual Console products!). But, the goods are out there. Here's how to get them: * Premium users get direct links via available sharing sites to new releases and issues already released through the premium user forum (which you get from posting or subscribing). We don't mind if you share these links on your own sites (because it's not our bandwidth), but PLEASE credit where it is due and link back to RetroMags. * Issues are always available using mininova.org's torrent search site, just search for the magazine you want or for RetroMags. There are also a lot of torrents available on the invite-only site Gay-Porn. * You can also use Newsgroups! Those of you who are not familiar with newsgroups, there are great tutorials out there on how to use them to download available files. For those who are familiar, keep an eye on the "alt.binaries.emulators.misc" group to find both current and past releases. You'll notice these are in a CBR format ... WHAT THE HECK IS CBR? It's actually a RAR file renamed to CBR for compatiblity with a tool called cdisplay, a comic book reader application. It's easy to use, and you can download it mirrored at: http://www.sav2880.net/files/store/CDisplay_setup.zip (Don't link to that from another site, the link is subjet to change) And finally ... HOW CAN I HELP GET THE WORD OUT? * Mention us on your site or blog! We don't mind too if you want to mirror the releases, just please make sure to give credit to RetroMags and provide a link so that your readers find out where it all began. * Help us with the dirtywork! If you are interested in scanning your own magazines or fanzines to help Retromags, or helping edit scans for distribution, then contact Phillyman and he can help coordinate. The more help, the better we can be, and it's greatly appreciated. Our forum software has a lot of stuff as a part of it, and while it can be a bit unwieldy sometimes, it's also quite powerful and has lots of features, and hopefully lots of additions to help build the Retromags community and have fun too, so if you get lost in the way, feel free and let us know so we can help you out. If you have any questions further, feel free and post in our forums, or contact Phillyman for more details. Thanks for stopping in, be sure and have some fun while you're here!

Racketboy.com Ripping Off Our Work (resolved)

Speaking as an outsider, the pub is appreciated, and hopefully we can all work together and make this great plan of magazine scanning even more successful. Always good to see good things come out of initial turmoil. -
MBJ: Send me an invite, I can PM you my e-mail if you remind me. I'm in the category that Eggman is ... for general purpose, Usenet is still great. But, with as specialized as emulation collecting is getting, torrents are helping with that. Good communities are helping too, and I need to get an Eggman order in, he helps too.

I'm with ya there ... As a follow-up, what will be do with the Wii being wireless?
-
The only way that would have been worth it is if they came with the demo discs. Then, it's a good collector's piece. But I swear that I have a bunch of Offical Dreamcast, I need to bust out the oversize equipment.
-
I've learned more about soccer in a month then I knew in the last 20 years.
-
You know what? We need to advertise ourselves better, bar none. Just wanted to say that. It begins with me doing distributing, but we have to do it.
-
LOL! I saw the first part of the game yesterday and Zidane's pentlay kick goal (which by the way was brilliant), and then saw a YouTube of the head butt ... ouch. By the way, does anyone think Zidane looks like Agent 47?
-
I bet I already have quite a few of those. Anyways, they are also slightly larger format. If I ever get off my butt and do some scanning, I might be able to.
-
I have never burned to DVD-DL's, just DVD+DL's. The only variable left would be disc quality, so I would likely see if I could take the remaining media back as defective.
-
Just want to let everyone know that I did get my MagicKey 2 in the mail today! I can't test it however ... until I get a GBA Flash Cart out! I don't think it's useable with a Supercard as the flash card so I'll have to pick up a cheap GBA card to make it fully usable (and I'll probably get a decent one for the best GBA compatibility while I'm at it). So a review is gonna be delayed a bit, but I'll get it done as soon as I can.
-
Douglas, great to have you!! Come play the Forum RPG and participate in some of the fun activities while you are here so we can help form a community around the efforts of bringing these classic magazines to life.

http://digg.com/gaming_news/Site_dedicated...gazines_on-line! DIGG IT!

15 is one awesome number. Now if we can convince each of those people to start one topic on the forums, it will be even better!
-
Yeah totally. Once I ever get a game room of my own, I will be building one of these!

My keyboards anymore are cheap, so I just replace, not clean. Although I do need to get a new laptop-style keyboard, I like the way those work as I have grown used to using laptops more and more.
