  1. Yes, the addition of Sonic is a significant development. It's too bad that the release date was pushed back to 2/10/08 though. I guess that if they need more time to make it a better game I can live with it. I'll be busy with Guitar Hero 3 and Mario Galaxy anyway (assuming I finish Phantom Hourglass).
  2. Those look interesting. I love seeing the English language publications from other countries. Nice work.

    Bluray And Hd-dvd

Recent developments have led me to become even less confident in the success of either HD format. The movie studios are divided pretty much 50/50 between the formats. Fox, MGM, Sony, and Disney are Blu-ray exclusive while Paramount and Dreamworks, and Universal are HD-DVD exclusive. Warner is the only studio releasing on both formats. So if I want to watch Jaws, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, or Indiana Jones in HD, I'll need to have an HD-DVD player and if I want to watch Star Wars, X-Men, or Fight Club, or The Incredibles in HD I'll need a Blu-ray player. At this point, it's simply impossible to be devoted to one format or another and be optimistic about viewing your favorite movies in HD.
  4. That's good stuff. I'm always amazed at the creativity of Nintendo fans.

    Bluray And Hd-dvd

Out of curiousity, what size is your TV? I can tell a big difference between a DVD and an HD broadcast on my 52 inch DLP TV but for me the cost of HD players and discs can't be justified. If HD-DVDs/BDs were about $20 and players about $200 I would jump on it.
  6. Spoonman over at google has a pretty impressive collection. You might ask him directly via a PM.
  7. I've been using uTorrent for years now. I'm currently using version 1.7.2 and I'm happy with it.
  8. I wish that I could help with this but school is taking up about 12 hours a day for me right now. I'm teaching a new class of 220 students, trying to finish writing my masters thesis, taking a graduate class, and trying to put together a new psychology experiment. Sorry!
  9. I finally hit level 500 in the attack system today. I haven't been nearly as active as I used to be so it's been slow going but I finally made it.
  10. Holy hell! That's a lot of GamePro!
  11. To members of Gay-Porn: Please be aware that next weekend (August 18th & 19th) is a Golden Torrent Weekend at Transexual-Underground.com. This means that torrents that have been deemed "Golden" can be downloaded without it counting against your ratio. Although most of the Retromags releases are not golden torrents, the PDF versions of Nintendo Power 1988 & 1989 ARE golden. There's also a wealth of classic gaming material available so be sure to take advantage of it while you can. If you're not a member but are interested in joining, just send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you an invitation (unless I run out). Enjoy!
  12. It was a toss up but I'll have to go with: Angelina Jolie Shirley Manson and Denise Richards
  13. All of my systems are unmodded unless you count replacing the 12 pin connector in my NES to reduce blinking. I've considered getting a GBA/DS flash card but (as old fashioned as it may sound) I'm wary of the sites that sell them online and I just don't want to drop the necessary cash.
  14. Cool! And you were close: 2nd edition covers issues 1-60 and the Game Atlas Player's Guide through Super Metroid. 3rd edition covers issues 1-70 and the Game Atlas through Donkey Kong Country Player's Guides. The 2nd edition was originally uploaded on google by RetroDragon on 9/23/06 (LINK) and I uploaded the 3rd edition on 6/14/07 (LINK).
  15. Does anyone have the first edition of the Nintendo Power Index? The 2nd and 3rd editions are up at google and I have been seeding both of them for ages but I don't believe I've ever seen the first. I know that the later editions include everything that's in the earlier ones but as a completist I just feel like this would be a cool thing to have available and I'd gladly put together a nice set with all three (or were there more?) and release it on google with the standard Retromags formatting.
  16. Some type of system like google has in "spirit" that is a gauge of site participation would be cool.
  17. What that stupid kid needs is to have his car repossessed and have to get a job working at a fast food restaurant so that he can be forced to deal with that kind of crap himself and realize what a terrible person he is. Now THAT would be justice.

    Please Seed Np 1998

I'm almost finished uploading the entire 1998 torrent to you zdude255. At least I'm assuming it's you since it's the sole leecher on the public torrent and issue 105 was downloaded first. If you want an invite to Gay-Porn just send me your e-mail address via PM. The releases are more heavily seeded there and since you'll already have the complete 1998 NP torrent you'll be able to start building your ratio immediately by seeding that if you'd like. Of course, you can seed the public torrent back too, it's up to you.

    Please Seed Np 1998

Is this in reference to the public release (found on Mininova) or the Gay-Porn release? Upon seeing your message I started up the public torrent but it did not connect to any peers. The Gay-Porn release has 4 seeds and one unconnectable peer named "softcalaver". Is that you?
  20. I know that someone released the 1990 NWC booklet a year or so ago as I looked at it just recently when looking through my hard drive for some older releases that are no longer in circulation. I don't remember who scanned it originally but I just wanted to give you a heads up. As for the Nintendo Fun Club issues, there's a complete set at Gay-Porn but it was released by somone who had a less than amicable split with Retromags (long story) so if we wanted to release a public set of these ourselves this could be useful.
  21. russolini: Thanks for the offer but that original post is a year old and we have already scrapped that computer.
  22. I'm actually enjoying it. I agree that the lack of differences from Guitar Hero 2 is disappointing, as is the lack of unlockable songs and only one unlockable character (no Lars Ulmaut?!). Still I picked this up for $40 at Best Buy and I've had a lot of fun with it. More songs = more fun. I've heard a lot of people complaining about the quality of the cover songs compared to previous games. I don't listen to much music from the '80s so I didn't notice this. In fact, I was unfamiliar with most of the songs in the game. Still, after playing them a few times I find them to be enjoyable. Also, Rocks the 80's seems to be a bit easier than GH2. This led me to really try out Hard Mode for the first time (I was never able to pass any songs on Hard Mode on GH2 before recently). After I tore up the Hard Mode on RT80's I played through GH1 on Hard and then GH2 and by then I had built up enough skill to do well enough to complete a lot of songs. So for $40, the revival of my interest in the series and the set of new songs, I'm happy with Rocks the 80's.
  23. I picked up Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the '80s and I also got a few original game boy/game boy color games off of ebay: Donkey Kong Land, Wario Blast, and Gex: Enter the Gecko. FYI, Gex is terrible. I should stop buying old GB games simply because they're $1. If we're expanding the thread beyond game purchases then I also got Season 2 of Weeds and the Absolute Garbage DVD that contains all of the music videos made by Garbage and a documentary about them.
  24. Reminds me of a terrible idea that a friend and I came up with in college: the Bidon't. The Bidon't uses the same principle as a Bidet (or Washlet for that matter) but with cottage cheese and compressed air.
