  1. Not all of us have the luxury of owning every system ever made. Although ports can be a controversial topic among purists, they can afford one the ability to play games from other systems. So the question is: What game would you like to see ported to which system? Would you like to see some of the FPS games from Xbox 360 or PS3 on the Wii with IR control? Would you like to see some Xbox 360 or PS3 exclusives ported to the other system? More PS2 or Gamecube games ported to the Wii? Personally, I'd like to see an HD version Geometry Wars: Galaxies on the PS3. I'd also like it if the amazing PacMan: Championship Edition could be brought from Xbox Live Arcade to Playstation Network or WiiWare. It would be nice if Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts weren't a 360 exclusive and could be brought to Wii or PS3 but that will never happen since MS owns Rare. Finally, although this doesn't exactly count as a port, I'd like to see the complete soundtracks from Guitar Hero 1 & 2 made available as DLC for Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero: World Tour.
  2. If I had to pick just one VC game I'd like to see released, it would probably be Majora's Mask. I only played it briefly back when it was on the N64 even though I consider myself to be a big fan of the Zelda series. After that, I'd like to see some more SNES RPGs. Japan got Secret of Mana recently so it's possible that we'll get it soon too. I've also heard a lot of great things about Earthbound but I never played it. Other VC fantasies of mine include classic arcade titles that have never seen home release. The most important of these would be the original Donkey Kong. The NES version that's currently available is missing levels that were present in the original.
  3. I currently have a 52 inch projection TV that's capable of a maximum resolution of 1080i/720p. I use this for my Wii and my PS3. I'm pretty satisfied with it but if I were to buy a new set I'd get one that's about the same size but is an LCD flat panel that's capable of 1080p, has a 120hz refresh rate (provides smoother motion on screen), and has 4 HDMI ports. If you think you'd be happy with a 32 inch screen then that's fine but I've read that in order to really take advantage of 1080p resolution you should go with something that's at least 42 inches. Also, you may want to stay away from plasma screens in favor of LCD. I've read that plasma is more susceptible to burn-in, which is a serious consideration when you're planning to use the TV for gaming.
  4. I'd hate to see Palin in the VP seat, especially after her frightening comment about how great Cheney has been. Though I have to admit, she's entertaining to watch. She should get her own reality show. I love imitating her accent. "Darn right!"
  5. I know that it's not technically retro but right now I'm loving the Mega Man 9 soundtrack.
  6. It's a shame that these restrictions had to be implemented but I can see that it's necessary. In related news, I had to stop seeding the mega-torrent a couple of weeks ago in order to keep my Comcast account in check. It appears that the salad days are over. :(
  7. Congrats Meppi! Your contributions to the site have certainly been impressive.
  8. I'm a fan of too many shows to list but my current favorite is The Office. I also watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Heroes, House, Fringe, Bones, The Sarah Silverman Program, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and SNL on a semi-regular basis.
  9. I got a PS3 on Monday and set up Folding@Home with the Retromags team info. Soon my lead should be even more commanding! Judging from the guidelines in the FAQ, I've now earned 20 years worth of lifetime memberships. It's nice to see that a few more people are participating now.
  10. Banjo is one of the few games that I'd be interested in playing on the 360 (I'm not an FPS or sports fan). *console envy* I do wish that Nintendo hadn't had that falling out with Rare. Their older games would have been great on the virtual console. List of Rare games
  11. If Wario Land Shake and Mega Man 9 are successful enough, maybe we'll have hope for new 2D revival games. I agree that a new 2D Castlevania, Zelda, Metroid, or Mario would be fantastic. I'm really amazed that Mega Man 9 is being made. I hoped for a true retro 2D sequel but never thought that it would actually get made. Speaking of 2D Zelda games, did anyone play Zelda Four Swords Adventures on GC? I'm trying to catch up on some titles I missed on that platform.
  12. Nice list. Are you a stickler for the original carts or is Wii Ware/VC an option? I'd recommend Wii Ware Dr. Mario over the GB version. The online play is superb. Same goes for Tetris DS, can't beat the nostalgia value of the original though. Super Metroid is on the VC and Super Mario RPG should be available at some point too. Other addictive recommendations from your list: Pokemon Red (GB) Advance Wars (GBA) WarioWare Twisted (GBA) - It's like the precursor to the Wii, but better than most motion controlled games on that system. Probably my favorite WarioWare. New Super Mario Bros (NDS) - I'm all about the 2D platformer revival.
  13. Did you mean 15.4 inch? Incidentally, I still have the same PC that I posted here years ago, but I upgraded my monitor to a 24 inch widescreen model recently. It's panoramic goodness. I plan to buy a new PC late this year when Intel releases their Nehalem processors.
  14. Wow, the auction is up to $200 with 2 days 8 hrs left to go!
  15. Sorry I've been away from the site for such a long time. I've been doing a lot of catch-up reading. I just got Mario Kart Wii this morning and I am enjoying it so far. I have only played through all of the new tracks on 50cc mode so I'm still getting a feel for the game. I played MK64 a lot back in college. I think that MKDS is my favorite. I'm looking forward to trying to master this new entry. If anyone would like to add me, here's my FC: 3823-8912-3342. PM me if you would like to race. Incidentally, I'll be out of town on my annual camping trip next week so I won't be online much from Monday through Thursday.
  16. I'm having a bourbon & coke (Scoresby & diet coke w/lime to be precise) as I'm writing this and working my way through Mario Kart Wii. I'm also impressed that this thread, which I started so long ago, is still active. Cheers!
  17. Thanks for contributing. We've had the first few years of Nintendo Power completed for quite a while now but I'm fairly certain that no one has scanned that issue of GamePro yet.
  18. I'm always a Nintendo Power fan first and foremost but if other people would rather see more EGM then so be it.
  19. I filled up my 1982 Diesel Benz the other day and at $4 a gallon it came to over $63 total. Ridiculous.
  20. I got mine today. It feels nice during remote style use but a bit odd when holding the remote horizontally (classic style). Of course, the jackets must be removed for use with Guitar Hero.
  21. It wi;; be interesting to see what they do with this. I hope that they keep it on a 2D plane since I've never cared for 3D fighters. My favorite fighting games are Street Fighter 2 (of course), Super Smash Brothers Melee, and Killer Instinct.
  22. I got MP3 a couple of days ago myself. Great looking (and playing) game.
  23. Parts of this are old news, but the following message arrived in my inbox this morning:
  24. We haven't done one of these threads recently. What have you purchased and what do you plan to purchase this month? I recently got Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (AKA Japan's SMB2) on virtual console. I also bought Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for DS and I've been playing that a lot. I recently picked up Picross DS and Brain Age 2 as well. Picross was surprisingly addictive but I lost interest in Brain Age pretty quickly. When I picked up Phantom Hourglass I spotted a used copy of Metroid: Zero Mission in stock so I picked that up too. I will definitely be buying Guitar Hero 3 for Wii when it comes out later this month. I already have it preordered and paid in full at my local Gamestop. My main concern now is trying to get a second guitar controller for multi-player. I'm having difficulty finding out when and where they will be available.
