  1. Thunder Force VI? Wow, that one slipped right by me. I'll have to dig up some more info on that one. I'm really looking forward to the Dragon Quest games on DS, along with the new Castlevania. SimCity Creator (Wii) looks pretty fun, too... I doubt Diablo 3 is coming out this year, but it's still worth mentioning.
  2. WOW... for a minute I thought he was talking about the NES game.
  3. I've also played through all the numbered Final Fantasys, though to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the series (give me Dragon Warrior/Quest anyday ). Yes, they are really fun games, but they never really struck me as being 'the greatest series ever!!' as some gamers would make them out to be. I'd have to say that my favorite of the bunch is VIII. I enjoyed the characters and the story a lot and the final battle was one of the craziest I've played in a long time. I forgot most of the details about the game, but I was fighting the sorceress in the final round with only Squall (everyone else was taken away) and completely ran out of all items, etc. I had literally one last chance to kill her before I'd lose and, lo and behold, I got Squall's "Lionheart" (or whatever his super-high damage attack was) and killed her. I dropped the controller and danced around the living room I was so happy! That was a looooong battle and I was definitly relieved it was over. I also really enjoyed XII. The real-time 'gambit' system that was used was really fun and made for nice, fluid battles that made the world seem more alive. I hope they use it again in future games. My least favorite is probably II. I liked the level-up system that it used, but I don't think the designers implemented it very well. The 'cheat' you could use to level your characters was the only way I could stand to play through it.
  4. Didn't they 'upgrade' the PS1 version? I mean, didn't they add some artwork or something to it? I can't remember. Anyways, I'm looking forward to this game, too.
  5. I'm waiting on Castlevania 3 and any of the Dragon Warrior games. It would awesome if they'd release Goldeneye, but that might be wishful thinking.
  6. I bought several issues of Nintendo Power when I was young and finially convinced my mom to let me subscribe. My first subscription issue was #67. I've been a subscriber ever since. I did my best to order the older issues, but eventually Nintendo either ran out or got tired of offering them, so my collection is far from complete...
  7. Mine used to be straight vodka, but now I've moved on to rum-- specifically, Captain Morgan's Private Stock. I've never gotten sick off of it. Yet, anyways... *crosses fingers*
  8. That's a pretty nice Master System lot you got there. I always wanted to jump in and give it a try, but never could get a hold of one. Got any suggestions on which games are worth the investment?
  9. That is a pretty neat picture. I just glanced at it at first, but then did a double-take and actually noticed the names. Clever! Do you have any more pics, or was this the only one you had come up with?
  10. My wife and I are rooting for the USA. She's a gymnast, so she's making me watch all her favorite events... Oh no! Hotties in leotards!
  11. This is a no-brainer. I hate the taste of coffee and love chocolate.
  12. There are some good games being listed here, like Little Samson and Sweet Home. I never really thought Snatcher and StarTropics were that obscure, though they are fantastic games. Anyways, here are a couple I thought might be worth mentioning: Nosferatu (SNES) -- This is like Prince of Persia, except it has lots of ghouls and monsters. Metal Storm (NES) -- A run-n-gun that lets you flip gravity and walk on ceilings.
  13. StarTropics. Islands, monsters, aliens. This game had my stumped numerous times, so I went out and bought my first Nintendo Power issues to help me beat it. Good times!
  14. Nintendo Power actually devoted a few pages to a MM9 preview in their August issue. The game looks like a blast. It would be awesome to see more games like this in the future.
  15. 1) Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2) Chrono Trigger 3) Super Castlevania IV 4) Dragon Quest III 5) Star Fox 6) Super Mario RPG 7) Donkey Kong Country 8) Contra III 9) Super Metroid 10) Super Mario World *looks at meppi's list* MY CHOICES HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED!! AHHHH!!! One or two favorites snuck their way in there. It's hard trying to decide which are the overall best games for a system. I have lots of favorites that certainly arn't among "The Best".
  16. I'd rather they put more strategy articles back in instead of colored backgrounds... but yeah, the pages are a bit bland. They do have quite a few pics, though.
  17. I've got to say that Michael Keaton was the best, but Christian Bale is a close second. I think Keaton wins because I think he looks more like Batman when he wears the suit. Still, it's tough to decide between the two.
  18. I've been a subscriber since the mid 90's and I have to say that I loved renewing each year to get the free guide. You used to be able to pick which guide you wanted, but I don't think that's an option now. I got the free Phantom Hourglass guide, but it's a "digest version", meaning its about 7"x5" with tiny print inside. But I guess it's better than a pack of posters...
  19. Hi, I came across this site yesterday and had to join because I love collecting old Nintendo Powers. I'm glad to get the chance to look at the ones I don't have.
