I'm fond of physical video game releases so publisher Limited Run Games is often on my radar. I'm also a Sega/Shinobi fan so found myself checking out LR's Shinobi: Art of Vengeance pre-order offer. I was surprised when I took a look at the Collector's Edition they have planned. Along with lots of goodies included with the game, they're including a new issue of Sega Visions magazine.
According to a Linkedin post by LR's CEO, this new issue is authorized by Sega and is being produced in-house by Limited Run.
I like the idea but I'm disappointed to see it locked behind a Collector's Edition price tag of $199.99. I hope they'll consider offering it separately, even digitally, but I doubt this will happen for a good while, if at all. I know LR has a fondness for video game magazines - their newsletter designs were often fun homages to 'zines of old - so despite being an upsell promo, I don't expect this issue to be especially shallow. Which is all the more reason why I'd love to see it made available solo at some point.
That said, if I wanted it bad enough, I'd plunk down the two hundred.
Anyway - thought I'd let everyone know. If nothing else, it's a nice nod to an era when I'd learn about the latest Shinobi installment thanks some blurry CES screenshots in some gaming mag. Good times.
