  5. Things do get resold on the secondary market. Just be patient. I own several video game art books and other items that were originally part of "collector's editions". These were later resold separate from the larger package. Once the physical product is in the hands of the purchaser, there are no limits on what can be done with it. I am much more of a bibliophile than a video game collector. Some years ago, I worked for a Provincial Government. A commemorative book was provided (for free) to all current staff; there was no other distribution -- it was "not sold in stores". Within a few weeks, multiple copies were available for sale on the secondary market.

  7. I'm fond of physical video game releases so publisher Limited Run Games is often on my radar. I'm also a Sega/Shinobi fan so found myself checking out LR's Shinobi: Art of Vengeance pre-order offer. I was surprised when I took a look at the Collector's Edition they have planned. Along with lots of goodies included with the game, they're including a new issue of Sega Visions magazine. According to a Linkedin post by LR's CEO, this new issue is authorized by Sega and is being produced in-house by Limited Run. I like the idea but I'm disappointed to see it locked behind a Collector's Edition price tag of $199.99. I hope they'll consider offering it separately, even digitally, but I doubt this will happen for a good while, if at all. I know LR has a fondness for video game magazines - their newsletter designs were often fun homages to 'zines of old - so despite being an upsell promo, I don't expect this issue to be especially shallow. Which is all the more reason why I'd love to see it made available solo at some point. That said, if I wanted it bad enough, I'd plunk down the two hundred. Anyway - thought I'd let everyone know. If nothing else, it's a nice nod to an era when I'd learn about the latest Shinobi installment thanks some blurry CES screenshots in some gaming mag. Good times.

  8. I don't know if this is the case for this particular scan, but a lot of times that's what the actual magazine looked like. You have to remember that many issues are 30+ years old and weren't printed with longevity in mind. The ink fades over time, which is another reason why digital preservation is so important. It stinks, I know, but we have to work with what's donated / available to the scanners.

  12. It depends on the amount of people interested in contributing. Bear in mind people have different ideas as to what the quality of a scan should be. Then there's also favouritism playing a part as well you have to take into account.

  13. Don't get too excited, because you know I work pretty slowly (prettiness takes time), and I like to rotate between different magazine titles besides, but I MIGHT just have the first 125 issues or so waiting patiently to be scanned in my closet right now. And all of Hero Illustrated as well...
