  1. I used to play retro games on my pc emulating DOS, amiga, c64, zx spectrum, apple ][, Nes, SNES, SMS, Genesis/Megadrive, Sega CD, Mame.... (you got idea... ) Long time ago i wrote simple tutorial for DOSBox for one of abandoware web sites, and was regular in Amiga community... And then couple of years ago I did sinister thing and purchased old used xBox, softmoded it, replaced HD with 320GB one, and started to play emulators on xBox, as well as xBox games. So now I play all of those games in living room... (got keyboard and mouse connected to xBox ) I didn't get any of last generation of consoles, but I do own all previous ones. (Dreamcast, PS2, NGC and xBox)
  2. Anyone own GBA player for GameCube?? It's nice to play GBA games on big screen.
  3. You can find lists with included inflation in numbers. Check this link. When adjusted with inflation, gone with the wind is at 1.5bn dollars. Of course, IMAX is more expensive, but it counts for small percentage of the movie overall profit. One astonishing thing is that in China avatar made only 80 mil dollars, because of ticket prices...
  4. Last couple of purchases were xBox (that's retro now, right?? ), Rage Racer for PS1, Jet Force Gemini for N64 and couple of games for Genesis (MegaDrive in EU) including Shadow Dancer, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Stargate. My Megadrive collection is now ~70 titles, and N64 only 20 titles. (which is not bad considering I got it 2 years ago )
  5. Because it's wrong. Reader will read it because it recognize format, but with renaming you didn't get anything (except confused reader for a little bit ). IMHO whole rar vs. zip speed is meaningless. You don't get much time out of it, and I personally like cbr files instead of cbz. (it's just your own preference) As for batch process, I use total commander to compress bunch of folders into rar file per folder. (you can use zip or one of other archiving formats)
  6. Strange, all downloads are for issue 182, not 183?!
  7. Those cliché are best view trough avatar being first movie of all time to reach 2bn dollars worldwide?! What would be a good example of cliché?? I disagree. Where story has similarities with Dance s with Wolves, whole message is quiet different. Avatar IMHO has another secret meaning of what would happen if private sector gets resources for space explorations. Part where big company + army has different agenda from science and exploration. Interestingly enough, it came just in time when President announced that TAXI of astronauts will be provided by private sector. Of course, if you see only visuals and loose all those small details, that does not prove the movie is bad or cliché as E-Day said early. I enjoyed Jurassic Park. Nice idea, couple well know actors and great director - of course you get another blockbuster... This is interesting, because in Jurassic Park we have science gone mad where in Avatar we have completely different thing. I wonder how did they connect those two movies (except well made and good money maker )
  8. You might be right, but again, not many movies have (positive) message such as Avatar. What's the message of Aliens?? (survival at any cost??)
  9. My daughter loves GBA SP. It has nice screen and it's great mobile retro-console if you own Flash Card. (Emulates NES, GB (no color) and Sega Master System at full speed!) You can also play a lot of homebrew software including 'Out of This World' aka 'Another World' as well as 'backups'. One thing I got with GBA was battery addition. (GBA SP can work ~24 hour with single charge) It was 16 bucks back in 2005 when I got it.
  10. Can you please specify where the story has been done?? It's not like 'I am Legend', the same movie with different actor and better visuals. Avatar has new story, no well-known actors, great message and superb visuals. It's all back to simple question: 'Do people watch movies for enjoyment or to annoy themselves???'
  11. I got lots of DVD that I collected in last decade, but my collection got much bigger once I started buying whole seasons of tv shows. At the moment I have complete Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Missing season 4.0 of Battlestar Galactica, first 7 seasons of Friends, 4 seasons of House M.D., 2 seasons of L-word (got to love this one ). I'm planning to get a hold of BSG original series and 80's, as well as Star Trek series. Was looking to buy Rome (HBO series) but it was a bit overpriced, so I opted to get it trough library.
  12. I had less problem with Ubuntu then with Win7. Ubuntu it self got drivers and updated them at first opportunity, where I had to download some of drivers for Win7. Amiga is still one of my fav computers. Great games, and with WHDLoad it's great retro-toy. (With WHDLoad you can play all games from HD)
  13. Thanks!!! It was confusing when I was opening later issue to see different issue number. I still like more year-month naming. (kind of gives me better idea what was out at the time ) What was spinoff mag??
  14. Do you know what's the reason that later numbers of GamePro have different number from the one on mag itself??
  15. I'm looking for a portable media player, and can't decide between iPod (any version) and Zune (also any version). Can you please explain why do you like Zune better then iPod. I need from time to time to have radio receiver (while in Gym, TV has radio frequencies for sound) and I would like to be able to watch some video file (mainly avi and mp4) and listen to my mp3 files. As for xBox, I love emulators and that's major reason I softmoded it, but from time to time I play some xBox games. (I purchase ~70 games as they go for anything between 1 and 10 bucks) It's nice that XBMC supports cbr and cbz files, so I use it to view mags or comics, while listening to some online radio station (on xBox as well) or something from my mp3 collection )
  16. Isn't wide screen in portrait orientation closer to mags format then regular display?? Just like iPhone, I will never get it... For a person who like to read on 42" TV with old softmoded xBox, those new things are way to small for my taste.
  17. Never tried Windows Me?? I'm IT support person, and I can answer you that question. Mostly people had problems with protected directories (for example Program Files) where their old software would save personal settings, and now you need admin rights and run it as admin to be able to save into Program Files. Also, some users (including me) had problem with Vista not shutting down properly. And you couldn't share your media before windows 7?! It's like that commercial for Win7, about sharing. I'm currently using Win7 on 2 of my laptops, XP on old laptop, Win98 on my retro station and WorkBench 3.1 on Amiga. Ahhh, both of Win7 laptops have Ubuntu installed that boots from FlashDrive. (Only GRUB installed on flash drive)
  18. GamePro cbr file (I didn't check pdf file) is named 006 instead of 007.
