  1. i'm actually in newspaper design (have been for three years) and have been looking for something to do on the side involving layout and whatnot. I have Adobe CS3 Suite and a bunch of experience with it, as well as proofing experience. I also do graphic design work as well. (shameless plug: joefreakinrocks.deviantart.com) i've also got a partner that's got Graphic Design and also Layout experience interested as well. And we're both retroenthusiasts. Just let me know if you guys are still interested in doing this, because now i'm super excited at the prospect.
  2. Oh lord. The first Ninja Gaiden for NES. I still shouldn't be allowed to play that game from how mad it made me.
  3. The biggest thing i liked is that i was the first person to rent it from a local movie place. I spent two days roaming around exploring, and spontaneously had my game erase (with a ridiculous time--something like 21:24?)right when i was in Tourian. Flustered, i started over, and beat the whole game (in a very cathartic) two and a half hours. And of course, the metroid hatchling/Hyper beam that beat the living butt out of Mother Brain sequence is still on my list of top moments in a game ever.
  4. I'll say that Blaster Master needs a serious remake. Not the awful thing they did for the Genesis, nor the unspeakably bad PSone game. In addition, a new River City Ransom, as long as they kept the aesthetic of the character models in mind.
  5. i was really sad to hear this. not as much because of ZD and the current state of EGM (other than the SFIV feature they ran at the beginning of the year, i haven't bought one in years.), but namely for the preservation of old issues going on here. that's a lot of history. and it's sad to see it go, at least in it's conventional format. (possibly. but seeing how print is dying everywhere else...very likely.) and if i'm gonna read news online on VG stuff, i'm honestly gonna read Kotaku, rather than 1up..since it just rounds up all the information gathered from these mag-sites anyway.
  6. I read that very issue of Nintendo Power relentlessly. Secret of Mana was and still is one of my favorite games of all time. I really like the presentation of 'what hit your mailbox' then. Thank you so much to everybody who contributes to this amazing project.
  7. i read NP since day one, and i stopped reading shortly before Mortal Kombat 3 was released for the SNES. My subscription ran out, and i didn't bother renewing it. I picked up a new issue the other day and flipped through it at my local bookstore.... ...it's amazing how alien the magazine feels now, technological and cultural differences aside. even as far as gaming magazines go, (which seems to be an uphill struggle at this point, versus, cheaper, quicker information online.) i think nintendo power thrived when it was really a one-system market...and even when sega got all upstart...and now that there's been a console war that's been going on for what feels like forever, it's one-sidedness, well. i don't know. i know i'll miss it as far as the namesake, but...i don't know how i'd feel if it stopped based on it's current presentation as a mag. particularly since i've been detached from it before there was a 'rumored Ultra-64' on the rise.
  8. it's really sad to see the end of the GB. at least it went out with a bang with the FFVI rerelease. to be honest, there's more titles on it that i like than the DS...that is, until Front Mission comes out.
  9. Does a flash card really consist of a modified GBA/DS? i'm just curious. I guess it would be a softmod. Just seems an odd selection. I broke my first playstation trying to mod it, but that was due to being seventeen, dumb, careless, and negligent. (i didn't have a computer, a walkthrough, or any kind of technical knowhow. always a dangerous mix.) Since that, i've steered clear of playing god on my console, for fear of creating another useless abomination to collect dust in my closet. i was stupid and updated the firmware in my PSP to play Portable Ops...and the idea of a webbrowser (as useless as it is) seemed appealing, so now i can't downgrade it without the fear of bricking the stupid thing. i've almost contemplated buying a second one, although i'm not sure 150-170 bucks is an option right now.
  10. I'm joe. i don't necessarily rock as much as you guys. I'm absolutely amazed with the ingenuity of this project, and am scouring my attic to find some way to help contribute to retromags. seriously. keeping this stuff archived electronically is a godsend. who knows when i may need a Fester's Quest map. Incidentally, since i can't get into the magazine forum, yet. Do you guys have/need Diehard Gamefan or Game Player's magazine?...just curious.
