3D television are no longer being made. 2016 was the final year. This is good because it adds cost and detracts from the already complicated selection of televisions. I would be happy to have a 60" OLED High Dynamic Range 2160P with input lag at 25ms no more than 36ms. I am willing to bet anyone who watches on this set would never even miss 3D and I am one of them. 3D should remain in the theater where it would be a more enjoyable experience and a reason for a couch potato to get out of the house and sit in theater seats instead. As Sean697 said, the best way to to experience 3D is with VR right now. It's pretty amazing. If you love 3D then you should pick up PSVR or a Vive. This sounds like an expensive toy right now but if you have a Playstation 4 already it would be the least expensive way to try it out. Oculus has better games and the Vive has the better technology. Oculus is releasing their own controllers like the Vive has in 2017 but overall this seams like an expensive toy at around $800.00 plus the PC.

This summer I was in need of a new computer. The Hewlett Packard Touchscreen Envy 17 inch was falling apart from the moment I got it and I needed more power. I bought Grand Theft Auto 5 in 2015 and my computer was too slow for it. Fast forward a year and a new emulator came out called cemu. It is a Wii U emulator that just became functional. I watched all the little mouth breathers whining cause their computers were running 5 fps while a few elites were playing at maximum speeds. I set out to build a computer. Starting with the box I chose acrylic also known as polymethyl methacrylate. It is like plexiglass. This stuff is brittle and every hole that needed to be drilled needed to start with 1/32, then 1/16 then 3/32 and so forth. Acrylic is strong stuff but because it his made up of long fiber, it chips very very very easy. MEK or Methyl Ethyl Ketone is used as a paint thinner and solvent. Another use for it is welding plastics together like Acrylic, Lucite and Plexiglass. When you apply MEK to a smooth flat piece of Acrylic and then hold it to another piece of acrylic without moving, it will never be coming apart again. Acrylic will not bond well or be strong if any piece is narrower than 10 - 12 mm, about 1/2" It needs to dry naturally for at least 1/2 hour and 12 hours for maximum bond. I first cut the piece that the mother board would be attached because this was more of an experiment. I drilled holes where the standoffs go. I cut some 1/8" ABS water softener tube about 3/4" long each. I bonded the standoffs into the softener tube with a crazy glue type. I glued the softener tubes into the acrylic piece After the mother board was secured I lay all the parts out that needed to fit in the case After I got the math figured out I cut all the pieces with a finishing blade saw blade. Use nothing less. I cut some strips 1/2" wide by 4 feet and welded them together 3 Ply like toilet paper. Then I sanded them smooth so I could weld 1" pieces to form an L shape. This L shape is needed to secure two perpendicular pieces. For the cover I made a recessed opening with a gasketed panel to fit. The port side is not finished. I will add a proper face plate and find a home for that power switch. Getting the cards to secure is tricky business. I also have a plan for cable management. This case is a vacuum with minimal turbulence. The CPU fan draws air in from the port side on bottom and then the heat spreads upward where it is expelled from the Power supply and the exhaust. The GPU also works with this flow. My goal of having a truly... silent computer is made. As for the parts list Acrylic sheet 8 mm CPU 6700K 14 nm Motherboard Asus Z170-E Power EVGA 850 G2 This one has a switch for passive mode. The fan turns off unless it's too hot and it remains silent... Memory DDR 4 16 GB 2666 CPU Cooling Noctua NH-D14 I upgraded the fans in the box to 4 pin fans. Fans 3 Cooler Master Silencio FP 120 800-1400 RPM 6.5 dB These are sooooo quiet.... Graphics Card HIS Radeon RX 480 8GB IceQ X2 This model has built in passive fans. They stay off unless needed Hard drive 1 Samsung Evo 850 250 GB Hard Drive 2 2 TB 2.5 inch mechanical hard drive containing Hyperspin and emulators Hard Drive 3 2 TB 3.5 inch mechanical containing bulk downloads. Audio Card Asus Xonar Deluxe 7.1 Fully analog RCA outputs *Edit 1 December 14 2016* I finished the faceplate side by building the pieces out while allowing room to negotiate cards. The faceplate fits snug but some of the pieces I fused together have what looks like air trapped in between. My theory is I clamped them too tight. I bonded the power button with JB Weld Plastic Bonder and fused some bosses for the zip ties to slide through

Nintendo Announces The Mini-NES, Will Play 30 Classic Games

Im conflicted here. Half of me knows Sega will never do anything cool like a mini Genesis with new parts where Indi game designers can release. Half of me knows all decisions are made by Sega Sammy Holdings and if they do release some cheap plastic toy it will be junk. -
Why don't more people play on PC?
Data replied to Rewind33's topic in Current Generation Video Gaming!
The worst part about having MAME and any other emulators is deciding how to control them. Should I use a dial to play Super Sprint? 8 way joysticks are the standard but should I buy Sanwa or the American style bats? Should I also have a 4 way joystick to play Burgertime and Pacman? Should I get a ball to play Simpsons Bowling, Golf and to use as a mouse? Sit down, stand up, or bartop? -
SEGA Dreamcast 2 to be PC and console hybrid?
Data replied to Phillyman's topic in Current Generation Video Gaming!
Sony grosly overhyped the PS2 in 2000. They made it seem like it was going to be two or three times as graphically intensive as Dreamcast. It turns out Sony lied and continue to do so. PS2 has good polygon count, good cpu and frame buffer but as soon as you added textures, the system was brought to it's knees. Dreamcast on the other hand had twice the video ram as well as being on par with Playstation 2 with overall polygon count.utilizing their powerful Naoimi to create a more arcadey feel to the system and games. This was the last true console in my opinion and there will never be anything like it. Dreamcast died not because they couldn't make awesome original games but because of their failed past with Saturn, 32x and Sega CD. They could not afford to give away a console, and that was what they were doing, with the inclusion of a DVD player. It was just too expensive and ultimately Sega went chapter 11 restructuring. -
It does seem insensitive to sell a product like this but they did seem like tasty candies. Yes that is the convenience store in Sakuragaoka and here is a picture from Dobuita. I figured the Tomato Mart might sell the item you are talking about.
-
LOL. Is there a history to those candies? Can you buy those at the Aji-ichi or the Tomato Store?

Porco Rosso aka The Red Pig is not a sad movie. If you like flying ace movies combined with a love story then this may be a hit considering the stylistic approach, this may or may not be your thing. The Grave of the Fireflies is a critically acclaimed tragic movie which was released as a double feature in 1988 with my Neighbor Tortoro. At first the movie was assumed to be for happy go lucky children but instead were left saddened and depressed. The movie has gone on to become a classic story which will stand the test of time.

Alex Rogan is a young man from a trailer court at the edge of nowhere. After failed attempts at scholarships and feeling like his life is hopeless, he breaks the record on this arcade game. All of his neighbors gather around to witness this event but later that night he has a visitor from another planet. Curiously, Alex goes with this man and they end up far away on some strange planet where they are in the middle of a war between Rylos and the Kodan Armada and he is selected to pilot a gunship. Will Xur take over the galaxy or will Alex Rogan save Rylos and find his way home to his girlfriend and family? I have 3 favorite lines from this movie. Number 1 is when Grigg and Alex find themselves hiding in a cave waiting for their chance to strike and Grigg gives his passionate speech about triumph against unsurmountable odds. This youtube clip does this better. The second was at the end when Xur's generals were left with no choice left but to face the end. Finally, when Alex's robot double on earth is trying to and unsuccessfully manage Alex's love interest, his little brother watches from his bedroom and says diarrhea.

I am in the market for original NES controllers. They need to be like new or very fine. Unfortunately the mini controllers are too short and their may be a compatibility problem between my computer. Originals are 92 inches NES-Mini are 30 inches Credit to Polygon com for this picture -
I only know english so reading subtitles becomes an impediment but I have learned that some of the best movies don't speak a word of english. Grave of the Fireflies is a story of a brother who struggles to survive with his sister and no home and no parents during world war 2. This one was dubbed in english. Also Porco Rosso was another good one about an old pilot who flies in Italy during world war 1.

It seems like it would have been easier to have actually landed on the moon than it would have the 1000's of Nasa and Apollo employees keep a secret like this for so long. Speaking of theories, somebody ought to have Trump find out what exactly has been going on at area 51. I suspect when he comes back we will all be fed a massive cover up.

It has been 15 years since this Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli released the award winning anime Spirited Away. 13 years since English Dub. This movie is being screened again on December 4th and 5th 2016 in United States. On the 4th it will be English dialogue and on the 5th it will be in Japanese with english subtitles. The movie is about a young girl who is upset that her family is moving. While traveling, the family mysteriously takes a wrong path and comes upon a deserted bath house. The family finds all this delicious food and pigs out on it. Disgusted, the girl goes off and winds up in an alternate reality where she meets friends and tries to find her way back. A great imagination in this film as well as interesting characters. Anyone watch Studio Ghibli?

It is rumored that Donald Trump is going to kickstart the space program in America again. The short term goal is go back to Earth's moon and develop a base inside the caverns on it. The caves make a tremendous idea because they haven't been bombarded in at least 100 million years. All they really need is a door. The moon would make an excellent staging area for Mars trips. Most energy is spent breaking free of Earth's gravity but the trip from the moon to Mars is only a tiny fraction and with new technology it only takes 39 days. Mars trips will happen within the next 8 years. Some of the biggest discoveries I feel will be on Mars but we need to get bodies back and forth. Imagine if Earth became inhabitable. Would you want people on the moon base and Mars base to continue the human existence?

I feel the post was about moral preening and virtue signaling than it was about substance. I guess I would fit under OP's definition of "damaged" because I feel I came out of this just fine.

First of all, we need some more emoticons. One which represents poking one's eyes out. Second that game came out in 2012 and I was under the impression that this was about 80's 90's. Third, this is of poor taste and I personally dont like it but I believe in freedom of speech.

If something is aimed at kids then it should be up to the parents to guide them to what they believe is morally superior. I tend to think that parents these days are becoming what we call here "helicopter parents". This means that they are sheltered from reality for so long that when they become adults they lack the coping skills to deal with conflict or loss. OP asks, "Anybody else notice how many Sega vs. Nintendo ads were literally encouraging the one brands supporters to attack the others (pummeling, punching, bullying, etc.)?" No, I have not honestly seen this level of hostility in these old magazines. As a Genesis owner I did have to participate in the banter from SNES owners and how they felt they had the better console. I could always say things like, well at least there is fighting in the NHL games or they didn't edit out the blood but what it was to me was simply a memory of growing up.
-
I do agree to disagree, although if we continue making things politically correct the product will be rejected for something that is more visceral in my opinion whether it is an anime, a perfume, a mate or even a president.

First let me check my white privilege at the door. I am a white male whose parents were both educated and as a result it has afforded me many valuable things in which I do not take for granted. The reason why advertising of videogames targeted males with images of attractive women is because over 90% of the target audience is male. It's true that women are in ads and its true they do look very attractive and sometimes needlessly provocative but to say they are dehumanized is exaggerated at best.

SEGA Dreamcast 2 to be PC and console hybrid?
Data replied to Phillyman's topic in Current Generation Video Gaming!
I admit, the Playstation 2 had a tremendous following from loyal Playstation 1 owners as well as fallout from Nintendo and Sega owners of the 90's. I was always interested in the Xbox because of Halo and Shenmue 2. In fact Microsoft co developed some of Dreamcasts Bios and operating system and after Sega folded, Microsoft took much of what they learned and built the powerful Xbox. -

The best reason to buy a Playstation 2 was the integrated DVD player. I remember in 1999 a guy said he wanted to sell his DVD player and buy a new one but it was $450.00. DVD's were $40.00. -

Just a heads up to anyone obsessed with the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Pat Contri and co-host Ian Furguson will be hosting the 7th Annual NES Marathon for Children's Miracle Network. This is a non profit marathon where all money donated goes to the Children's Miracle Network which helps children in North America with health care needs, support and rehabilitation. They start this 24 hour Marathon Saturday November 12 2016 at 2 PM Eastern and it runs for 24 hours into Sunday. As usual Pat plays a few minutes of each game cartridge while honoring different goals that donators request. Pat has upwards of 800 games so you never get to see more than a couple minutes for most games unless it is a request or a goal. This is a verified nonprofit charity backed by Indigogo. Go to the site for more information and a list of prizes. I have been watching this thing every year since 2012 and I smile thinking of these guys up all night blowing into cartridges with their eyes being held open by toothpicks. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/7th-nes-marathon-for-children-s-miracle-network-games#/

In the late 80's and early 90's I remember watching canadian cartoons before getting on the bus for an hour drive to school. It took an hour because I lived in a rural area and had to commute in the opposite direction of the closest major city. We all had 3 + 1 channels in which we picked up from the closest city by way of rabbit ears. CTV CBC STV (later Global) and CBC French. The french channel wasn't watched because my generation of students missed the mandatory french class by one year. The french channel did however on occasion provide some more adult oriented programming at later hours. Mostly I remember CBC and Global having these cartoons on in the morning. There was Ovide, Kitty Kats, Babar, Smoggies and Canadian Astro Boy. That's right Astro Boy fans, in the late 80's, early 90's Canada mandated a certain amount of Canadian shows such as the ones I listed but Astro Boy was originally Japanese before it came to USA. Canadian Astro Boy was different because it had a Canadian Voice actor, alternate intro and a recount at the end of each episode where Astroboy would record what happened to his compute Geronimo and interact with the viewer. Dailymotion has higher quality of these old recordings but Youtube embeds better. This is only the ending of Canadian Astro Boy Kity Kats kinda freaked me out. I can't find Ovide in anything but French. Everyone's likely heard of Babar. I believe it went on to syndication. Smoggies is so campy and retro it's hard to watch anymore. This would be something you would tease a fellow canadian for enjoying.
