Due to some rumblings in the back of the site, I have no idea if I will keep releasing my issues under this banner or not. If there's no coming back for me you'll always be able to find my future work here, unless a certain someone deletes the link, which wouldn't even surprise me at this point. This 1st post will be updated as I get started on new scans. I will also keep updating the % of each magazine that I'm currently working on. Once a magazine has been completed, it will be posted along with download links and a preview image in the Magazine Releases section of the board. I'll be rescanning my old magazines in between working on new magazines, and once I have re-edited or completely re-scanned and uploaded an issue, I will add "completed +release date" to differentiate between the new and the old versions. Once a new version has been released I will remove the old one from the server so you don't have to worry about mixing the 2 up. The new ones will generally be a bit larger in size due to the higher quality as well. I have started using new editing techniques which work much better on either black or white pages, this way black pages will actually be black and not grey and white ones won't have any of the nasty yellowing that sometimes can be found around the edges of certain pages. I will also take greater care about finding and removing dust particles as well as other spots and stuff that shouldn't be on there. And finally thanks to the new "Vibrance" tool in CS4 and the correct settings at which this will be used, the colours of the magazines will be as close tot the original as I can possibly make them. You might have noticed that the saturation process of before did quite a good job of making the pages look vibrant, but it only seemed to target the warm colour spectrum. Now with the combination of a lower saturation level along with a 50% Vibrance boost, the full spectrum finally gets the attention it deserves. You will be able to tell them apart from the new thank you page at the end of the magazine, at the bottom right of this page there will also be a date. That way you can check which version you have. The ones without a date are the old ones. and also from the fact that the name of the month in the title will be written in full from now on. The pages will be resized to a width of 1440 instead of 1280 and they will also be much cleaner than the previous version, thanks to y new equipment. Hello. I wanna help. I don't have scan in my house right now, but I wonder if I can help uploading some magazines that I have in my HD and don't appear in the Download Section. For example I upload Official Sega Saturn Magazine nº 034 - aug 1998 . The scan is not mine, I found it in internet. I hope you can add your download database. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JFIE46OS If everything is all right I upload more. Thanks!1 point

Areala basically had it right. Scans of old video game magazines. Nothing is better than to see scans of Nintendo Power from 1988 to appreciate the phrase "awesome graphics". I just thought that everyone, at least in North America and Europe, would know what French looked like. Maybe that is because I live in Canada and cannot get away from that language, but I know what Spanish looks like when I see it . As an interesting side note, Poil, the name of the site, is the correct spelling, at least in France, for Body Hair. I don't know if they use that word here or note, but if they due, it's an odd choice for a URL.1 point

I have the same problem Gnash...it seems that it has a lot to do with the work Philly is doing behind the scenes. For some reason it will be lightning fast some times and slow as molasses others. Lets wait and see how it is doing in a few weeks. I am guessing it will start running a lot faster then.1 point

Since it's been like 3 months since I did anything significant with the Wiki, I figured it was time to add another drop in our bucket. And since it's a Dreamcast anniversary, I thought I'd find a magazine that dealt with a bunch of Dreamcast reviews/previews. To wit: Game Informer 78 has now been drained of its pitiful Stub status and fully indexed! Any comments or questions, you know where to direct 'em. Edit: now Game Informer 84 has been indexed as well. It's hard to stop once you've started. *huggles* Areala1 point

The early 80s were a particularly hard time in my childhood and Bill and Arnie's work were like islands of good amongst the bad. It wasn't written for kids, it wasn't written for just adults it was written for video gamers. I remember each and every one of these issues. I've been meaning to post in one of Bill's threads thanking him because he and Arnie are two of the heroes of my childhood. Thanks Tony, I work hard on those double pages and a lot of the time it is impossible to blend them. What I am attempting to do is show what the original art looked like. I am particularly proud of the SwordQuest ad which is funny since I think that EarthWorld is one of the worst Atari 2600 games of all time. Worse even then E.T. and Pac-Man.1 point

Since most of the NP, EGM, and Gamepro stuff is accounted for on this site, I didn't take the time to be very specific with cover dates and other items for those issues since most are well known and accounted for, if they are missing and thought needed, let me know and I will add that information to the list. I literally have too much stuff to do a complete fully detailed listing, I spent over 10 hours reorganizing all of my material then pulling out boxes with the other items that are better organized and collected together, putting like issues together, relabeling everything, and making this index while doing that. I don't think I wanna do that again for another 10 years... O_o Or more. But otherwise the list below is pretty much completed. I don't know how much time I want to put into doing any more scanning than what I already have done at the moment, unless there is something that is desperately needed and I can do, this reorganizing last night / today took a lot of my time and while it needed to be done, the complete indexing of what I had as well, I feel burnt out to start tackling a time intensive project at the moment. I want to help out, but at a pace that I want to work at, which unfortunately due to my habit or overworking myself on a pet project until I can't stand working on it, I tend to burn out with things or I push really hard to get it done (like this project) then loose motivation to do anything else for a long time until motivated enough to do it again. I still am willing to send any work I have done (another thing that took time tonight is I was also grabbing new game ads, which is my main focus usually when I scan game magazines, since some of those older (and even newer) ads are pretty cool to look at and interest me the most. It gets it perfectly most times, before I taped black construction paper to the lid on the inside. Since then it crops around the excess c.paper. But without it, yeah, it did a really good job almost everytime. But because EGM used the cheapest, thinnest paper possible, almost every page bleeds through, so the construction paper is a necessity. Otherwise cropping in photoshop would be very minimal. Now I just have it scan the whole bed. I haven't tried it with a stapled magazine. With those I suspect it would crop around the edge except where the staple is. It looks for the white background of the lid and crops around anything that isn't it. And it does a hell of a job printing photos too.1 point

It would be interesting to see a timeline comparison against all the magazines on a time line. Also, it would be a nice way to index magazines by the times they were published. You could find the longest run mags, shortest runs, times with the most amount of magazines in publication, the least, etc. I've seen timelines for car makes & models on wikipedia before, so a template should easily exist.1 point

This is the 4th issue in a series of re-scans I'm doing for all the Maximum magazines. Besides the pages being 1440 wide now instead of 1280, they also have been color corrected and touched up more diligently. Also, these are brand new scans of the issues, so not just cleaned up ones from last time. The magazines have been debinded to increase the quality of the scans even more. Hi, I have a lot of great video game mags from the early to late 90's. I'd be willing to send any of them to any of you regular scanners (someone trustworthy obviously.. ). I could send like 15-20 issues a time via USPS Priority Flat Rate Box. I'd pay for shipping to you, you pay for shipping them back. I'm gonna make a list of the issues I have, and post that list here soon. I'd scan them myself, but I'm just not up to it. I used to scan a lot of games, boxes & manuals for RF Generation. I'm all scanned out.. Is it a good idea? Any of you up for it? Thanks. Check out some covers I've scanned: http://www.retromags.com/forums/Kevincal-s...over-t4134.html 5 = Perfect / 4 = Near Mint / 3 = Avg. Little Wear / 2 = Well Read & Rough around the edges, but Complete / 1 = Missing cover, pages, or very poor condition overall (creases, stains, dog ears etc.) Most issues will be a 3 and are in great condition overall with very little wear noticeable. Infact a lot of the 3’s I’m giving should probably be 4’s… And a lot of the 2’s interior pages are flawless… Most 1’s are missing the cover & rough, but readable. Here's what I have: Nintendo Power Sept./Oct. ’88 – 2 March/April ’90 – 1 Volume 21 – 2 Volume 22 – 2 Top Secret Passwords Nintendo Player’s Guide from 1992 – 3 Volume 35 – 3 Volume 36 – 3 Volume 37 – 3 Volume 38 – 3 Volume 39 – 3 Volume 40 – 3 Volume 41 – 3 Volume 42 – 3 Volume 43 - 3 Volume 44 – 3 Volume 45 – 3 Volume 46 – 3 Volume 47 – 3 Volume 48 – 3 Volume 49 – 3 Volume 53 – 3 Volume 54 – 3 Volume 55 – 2 Volume 57 – 2 Volume 63 – 1 Volume 65 – 1 Volume 66 – 2 Volume 68 – 2 Volume 71 – 2 Volume 72 – 1 Volume 73 – 3 Volume 83 – 2 Volume 84 – 2 Volume 85 – 2 Volume 86 – 3 Volume 87 – 3 Volume 88 – 3 Volume 89 – 3 Volume 90 – 3 Volume 91 – 3 Volume 92 – 2 Volume 93 – 2 Volume 94 – 2 Volume 95 – 3 Volume 96 – 3 Volume 97 – 3 Volume 98 – 3 Volume 99 - 3 Volume 100 – 3 Volume 101 – 3 Volume 102 – 3 Volume 103 – 3 Volume 104 – 3 Volume 105 – 3 Volume 106 - 2 Volume 107 – 2 Volume 108 – 3 Volume 110 – 2 GamePro February ’90 – 1 (missing cover but otherwise is a 3) November ’92 – 2 January ’93 – 1 March ’94 – 1 April ’94 – 3 May ’94 – 2 July ’94 - 3 August ’94 – 2 September ’94 – 3 October ’94 – 3 November ’94 – 3 December ’94 – 1 March ’95 – 3 June ’95 – 2 July ’95 – 3 August ’95 – 3 September ’95 – 2 October ’95 – 3 November ’95 – 3 December ’95 – 3 January ’96 – 3 February ’96 – 3 March ’96 – 3 April ’96 – 3 May ’96 – 3 June ’96 – 3 July ’96 – 3 August ’96 -3 September ’96 – 3 October ’96 – 3 November ’96 – 3 December ’96 -3 Winter ’96 The Fighter’s Edge Premier Issue – 3 January ’97 – 3 February ’97 – 3 March ’97 – 3 April ’97 - 3 May ’97 - 3 June’97 - 3 July ’97 - 3 September ’97 - 3 October ’97 - 3 November ’97 - 3 December ’97 - 3 January ’98 - 3 February ’98 - 3 March ’98 - 3 April ’98 - 3 May ’98 - 3 June ’98 - 3 July ’98 - 3 August ’98 - 3 September ’98 - 3 October ’98 - 3 November ’98 - 3 December ’98 - 3 January ’99 - 3 February ’99 - 3 March ’99 - 3 April ’99 - 3 May ’99 - 3 June ’99 - 3 July ’99 - 3 August ’99 - 3 September ’99 - 3 October ’99 - 3 November ’99 - 3 December ’99 – 3 Game Players & Ultra GP’s (All issues are about 3’s / Great condition.) Not too much of a delay this time around. The only thing working against me was a week of the graveyard shift, so I'm glad that that's over with. I'm glad to say that this issue's cover speaks volumes about the quality inside. Not to mention a first look at Radiant Silvergun (one of many features to come in upcoming issues) and a very nice Burning Rangers interview as well as Panzer Dragoon Saga goodness. As always: enjoy! I feel like I have to start off with an apology yet again. (seems like this is becoming a recurring event...) I certainly wasn't planning on taking this much time to release my next scan, so for the people who have been waiting for it, I'm really sorry it took this long. Several things came together and created a situation where I didn't have time to do everything that I wanted. Working on a yet to be revealed web project that is taking lots of time to get it just right, starting on doing quite a bit of renovation work on my house, and when that was just about done I got around to after a long wait finally being able to pick up a brand new 46" plasma along with a PS3 and soon to be Bluray home theater system. So you can imagine after the weeks of slaving away clocking up 16-18 hour days most of the time, I needed some relaxation time so I could enjoy my new toys. The next issue (which starts off the Radiant Silvergun coverage btw) looks to be in pristine condition, so the editing work should be minimal compared to issue 30. The biggest time was probably spent on getting the Grandia Guide looking as good as new again, so I hope you enjoy it. There's so much good stuff in this issue that I won't even bother naming it, as it would end up being about half the length of the table of contents. So without further adieu, let me present you: Official Sega Saturn Magazine 030 - april 1998 (UK) Download page here. Rapidshare link1 point

OK, trying something new. I figured since we just got SNES Buyer's Guide 1 scanned and uploaded, I'd make a section for it on the Wiki. Questions, comments, edits and corrections all gratefully welcome. I struck out on my own a bit, and there's all sorts of things I could have or should have done differently. Please feel free to make suggestions! Super NES Buyer's Guide Issue 1 *huggles* Areala1 point

Electronic Fun With Computers & Games, Nov. ’82 Vol. 1 #1 is now completed and ready to upload. ^_^1 point

Sure enough, the Banjo-Tooie guide was printed in 2000 so that'll have to be put on the back burner for now - but it sure feels like its been more than ten years since that game came out. I shall continue on with Electronic Games Vol. 2 No. 6 (Aug 1983). Update 06/05/09, 12:30am: Scanning & Editing completed. Mag has been uploaded.1 point

PSM Issue 5 indexed. This page is complete now except for the missing cover scan. Here's the one from the scan stored on the site that we can use to fix that minor problem if someone wants to upload it. *huggles* Areala1 point

Stepping back in time a little bit, PSM Issue 4 indexed. Special shoutouts to Phillyman and Triverse for uploading/editing these early issues, which has allowed me to move outside my collection and index stuff I'd never even seen before. I'm putting your bandwidth to good use, I promise. Note: if somebody wanted to replace the current cover image on the Wiki with the cover scan included in the download here, we'd lose the big white bar that runs down the left side of the picture. I'd do it, but I'm not 100% sure how to go about uploading pictures just yet. There's the picture, so you don't have to DL the whole magazine. *huggles* Areala1 point

Infoboxes added to the first 28 issues of PSM Magazine (which brings the Wiki current through the 1999 year for that magazine). Thanks, Phillyman, for the assistance.1 point

Sorry I'm in a bit of a hurry so I did not look over the entire topic. But I just wanted to let you know the page numbers are not necissary so you don't have to do that and it saves you time if you don't put them in there. But The first thing listed on the wiki page for Nintendo Power should be systems covered. So if in the magazine they talk about rumors to a new Nintendo system or anything like that just put a reference in there about it. But wow this is great thank you so much for the help. See http://www.retromags.com/wiki/Nintendo_Pow..._feb_1992_(USA) as an example as the way I'm configuring those now if you don't mind. I kinda am trying to keep them all uniform.1 point

Alrighty! Nix all the country codes, preceeding zeroes, and dates in the titles...that's simple enough to remember. Seems like it'll make for a huge amount of moving or redirecting for you guys though...sorry for the extra work. :( Hey, can I add the little infobox for the magazine image and whatnot on the pages I am stubbing too? It might make it easier for anyone else to come along and update the information and the magazine scan, but if you want me to stick to just the basics, that's cool too.1 point

I'd go with the first one without a doubt. The saturation in that one just looks about perfect. On the second one which seems a bit brighter the colors almost seems a bit washed out. Not quite washed out, but getting close to it. Hard to explain actually.1 point

Next up: GamePro Issue 68, March 1995. Out of the gate, I will mention that a few pages have parts cute out. If anyone has this issue and wants to scan those pages for me, send me a private message. The pages that are needed are: Pages 126, 126, 127, 128, 131, and 132. Here are two scans of the cover: One using the default scanner profile, and the other using some sRBG profile (both with saturation upped 20% post scan). Do let me know which looks better to you between the two before I start. #1 - Default Profile: #2 - sRGB Profile:1 point
