((((((((((*)))))))))) Thats the ripple.....lets start at where it began! Once I aquired the first issue of EGM ....I got together with Meppi and asked if he would be able to edit it up. After he agreed ...I contacted Gnomes Lair and Racketboy for backup on the news story....Both of their sites pull more traffic then mine (check Alexa.com). So after we got the issue all fixed up....Gnome and Racketboy both posted up the news story and we tried for a Digg effect. The story between both of there sites got me about a 150 user increase over the past 2 days....which brought me up to about 500 unique visitors per day. The Digg unfortunately did not make as big of a splash as we had hoped. A few days went by and I started to think that most people thought nothing special of this release. Then yesterday at roughly 2pm I noticed a huge surge of traffic.....was the Digg taking off? Nope.....apparently a website named kotaku.com had posted up the story! That story brought us 7200 people to this site yesterday! Just so you know I only get about 5500 people visiting this site in 30 days! That story brought a huge amount of people to the Retromags name.....and that brings me to the ripple effect.....Today we have had 1700 visitors to Retromags.....which is fantastic! I do expect the number to drop over the next few days....but this is to be expected. Think for a second that if 7200 people visited Retromags yesterday.....How many people went to Gnomes site first....but didn't come here? Or how many people just saw the Retromags name on the front of Kotaku's website? Now how many of those people run there own websites, or visit other gaming forums? This is where it gets interesting! As far as my raw releases are concerned, That is the entire point behind the "R" they are raw right off the scanner....not all clean and pretty. Now anyone who complains about them is more then welcome to clean them up.....but seeing as no one is stepping forward to do so....then I will not listen to complaints about them. The entire reason behind releasing the magazines out like that was to grab the attention of people to this site. Now I have scanned 100 magazines and at roughly 120 pages per magazine, thats 12,000 pages to edit. Do you honestly think that I can ..... Promote this site Help new members get started Index the Contents on the Wiki Make note of all pages without numbers Debind the Issues Feed them through my ADF Figure out what pages misfed and rescan them Figure out what pages went through crooked and rescan them Go through and edit 100+ pages Compile the pages into a .CBZ file Compile the pages into a .PDF file Upload the releases to Mininova Upload the releases to Under-Ground Gamer Upload the releases to Demonoid Rinse and Repeat... No thats why you see me asking for help at times, So yes I am scanning 150 magazines....then I am going to take a break from scanning and go back and rescan the pages that cant be fixed up.....then I will release out a FINAL magazine and throw out the loose pages. Even if only 10% of each magazine needs to be rescanned....thats 90% I did not have to scan manually! Look Fusoya....no matter what you think of me....I am not out to ban you or use you. I welcome everyones help....but on the joined pages....why is it so hard to give the scans to Meppi or myself before the joining takes place? I dont care if you want to release a joined copy.....but give the users of this site the ability to choose what version they want.

If you scan the entire magazine and send it to me..... you will become a Lifetime Premium Member! Just do it at the original resolution and a DPI of 300, with all the special effects turned off (sharpness, dust removal, auto contrast)

Fusoya, I tried letting others hash this out with you before putting in my word..... I see no reason that after a magazine has been scanned, that you or that scanner cant pass the files off to myself or Meppi for a regular release. If you want to join the pages on your scans.....then that is your right....but dont impose such measures on new members trying to help out. It would be like me taking Mek1's scans and creating a optimized PDF file and releasing it.....no one wants that....and no one really likes the joined pages. Also what was the purpose of not including the Thank You page at the end of Mek1's release? I am trying to get along with you Fusoya....but your really starting to irritate myself and other members on this board!

I tried to skip over that topic, hoping that by letting other members argue with him....that he might realize that "HE" is being a dick. If I keep argueing with him he may see it as myself using my Admin status as trying to control him. I will post my reply now....

No I have not, And at any time that I get a legitimate request to remove such material.....it shall be removed immediately. Retromags does not want to step on any publishers toes, that is why we stay 5 years behind the current publication. So as of today we only go up to April 2003.....anything past that is prohibited. But if a publisher decided to release an electronic format of there past magazines....that too would cause immediate removal and such from this website also. I honestly hope that we never get a cease and desist....but if we do we will comply fully with the publishers requests.

Hopefully when we release out that GameFan Issue 1.....we can get the same type of response

Nope I technically have about 30 more EGMs in addition to the 50 I listed, I just need to take a break before my eyes pop outta my head

This is soo why I should never use the sniper riffle. I pick it up ....see my teammate getting attacked.....I try to snipe the enemy and put a bullet through my teammates skull

1) Emulation News is the only section that exports news to the front page, Maybe I should just rename that section Front Page News? 2) Yes I know sometimes I get crooked scans, but the early issues of EGM are not being cut apart, they are being manually scanned. Yea each visit builds the Retromags city, Look at some of the top cities......thats where we should be! Its nothing special, just something to get the Retromags name out there

So with Underground-Gamer getting hacked recently, I thought about having a secondary private tracker host the majority of our releases. Right now I am in the progress of moving some of the releases over to Demonoid to see how they do over there. Comparing Underground-Gamer to Demonoid on Alexa shows this...... Click here for a Comparision! You will see that Retromags is waay down at the bottom of the chart in terms of traffic.......Underground-Gamer is above us quite a bit.....but Demoniod is just towering above all with traffic. I would also release the magazines on Mininova, but no one seeds them when I do. So Demonoid is the next best thing considering that people have ratio laws to obey. So here is my proposal, Many of you guys wish to download more magazines. But you either dont have a scanner, cant edit a magazine ....or dont wish to donate money. Those are all fine.....but you have no reason other then laziness to turn down the following offer. For every 5 magazines you take from the Retromags Download section, and create a PROPER torrent over at Demonoid.....I will credit you 6 months of Premium Membership! Not just 1 month.....But 6 months! You only need to follow these simple rules! 1) Do Not Distribute the Nintendo Power magazines over there! I want to do those a certain way....all other magazines are up for grabs to move over there! 2) You are to only upload 1 magazine per torrent, No yearly or compilation sets!
