Thanks I do know of oldmags but site is in midst of moving and I did not receive an email to new site. Does anyone know if Kiwi is here as user as I dont think he is looking at old site since I sent private msg over there about it. But yes that site and this one are a gold mine to folks like myself that are nostalgic.

Recently noticing some new X360 cover scans and hoping that is good sign these are coming. See its marked for Issue 1 as not allowed but isn't it after the 10 year cutoff for this one? Really hoping to see some of the first issues being preserved. Would certainly try to obtain and donate any that are missing but being in the US makes getting these UK mags very expensive.

Cant help for Canada but I grabbed many JC Penny and Sear ones for the US from eBay. Are there Wishbooks catalogs here I missed?

This weekend I will be working with my new V600 and compare that to ScanSnap ADF scanners and provide some examples. I had a Canon 9000 that died on me but it was fantastic in quality of scans, but it just would not power up one day.
-
What did you end up getting and what settings are working out (Office, Pro mode, etc). I just got this scanner too, but most pages I will scan with my ix-1500 ADF since I am going to debind but for some of the nicer hi-res graphic game preview sections and cover, I am using the V600.

MigJmz is your 120 and 125 in pretty good condition? I ask as the this person on eBay that I bought the missing ones from sent them very well packed and they are in really good condition. So thinking of obtaining his 120 and 125 issues if we need them, that is, copies we have to scan are not in great shape. Let me know and if needed I will pull the trigger on those 2 as well.

This might be nice one to pick up if your in the UK had the lowdown on the PS3 release https://www.ebay.com/itm/353974842000?epid=1413662034&hash=item526a8b7290:g:cI0AAOSwrKNf8wvK

I just got my V600 Epson scanner for scanning front covers, so by this weekend I should have working full setup and be able to go thru workflow of scanning and post cleanup on several computer "Boot" mags. I should be able to then scan the PSMs from eBay when they arrive. I would also be willing to help more on PSM scans. I have a ton of Game Informer's I have obtained as well, I know those don't share here, but wanted these for my personal collection scanned even though I have online sub via Gamestop. But I can hold off on those. Would really love to scan 113, 114, 120 and 125 as keen to read those.

Example PSM3 https://www.ebay.com/itm/115324679022?hash=item1ad9e2f36e:g:8AsAAOSwujZiSHd1 So shipping to me is $33 and mags only $26. If someone in UK can obtain would be willing to donate to obtain for preservation.

I have obtained PSM 121, 123, 128, 129 and possibly also 130. The PSM3 on eBay as just to expensive for US ship and more then mags themselves. Which is shame as I would have been will to pick these up as many have more modern PS3/PS4 games. Maybe someone in UK would have better access to these I am hoping.

Does Anyone Have Information About EGM's Feb. 2010 Issue?
matrixman replied to defaultuser000's topic in Magazine Talk
I know this is old post, but if still interested I ran across this on ISSUU site https://issuu.com/gabrielvaldivia/docs/egm -
Sounds good I will hold off then til I see what you all have missing or need ones in better shape perhaps. But I will go ahead and snag the PSM3 then.
-
Thanks will give these a try. I only have Photoshop Elements but I think actions from main PS work in them also. Otherwise might have to break out my old Photoshop v7. What version are these from?
-
Do you still need these to complete your scans of Game Informer?

Really enjoying the PSM scans. So wanted to see if I can contribute, but before I acquire wanted to ensure someone did not have a stash of these lying around. I think I saw couple forum posts that mentioned sometime the database is not updated to indicate if already acquired so want to double check before click the buy button as these are not cheap. Was going to focus on 133 onward and also to obtain PSM3 ones as well. Hoping to find holy grail last PSM3 Issue 161 as really want to read that one. Found some on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134055879156?hash=item1f365a61f4:g:HMsAAOSw9eZiMhjC https://www.ebay.com/itm/234114664223?hash=item368252471f:g:6uQAAOSwksFhBqNa https://www.ebay.com/itm/203765267745?hash=item2f715b3d21:g:hKoAAOSwJhRhxy8z

Rediscovering My Love For My Collection (By Destroying It)
matrixman commented on Areala's blog entry in Retrochick Retroblog v1.0
Great post and thanks. I had similar issues, but the basement is going to be finished this year and I just have no where to store my collectibles. Just too much over the years. Some game magazines, but mostly computer and movie ones. Boot and MaximumPC were my cherished ones that I did not want to cut/debind. But I just gave in and started. My office is now boxes upon boxes, but I work from home so hoping to get myself to do at least 1-2 magazines a day. I wish there were more sites like this for other types of magazines like computer and film/movie but alas the Internet Archive is closest to that. -
E-day took your advice and returned the fi and got a ix1600 at 15% off instead as I really could not tell the difference when it arrived from the scans the fi did and the speed increase in fi vs ix1600 was not that huge a difference overall. So also been using Scansnap manager as that does still work with both my old ix500 and the new ix1600 and I prefer it. However, I notice even after just one magazine scan that lines begin to appear in scans. I clean the rollers and the glass and they go away. Do you have this same common experience as I hate having to do this after every scan? Is the lines from the rollers or the glass area? Starting slow with some magazines I own and have de-binded with guillotine. But will need some help figuring out post processing tweaks in Photoshop to make the image pop and text more readable. I viewed the guides here and will experiment but might need some guidance if thats okay. Looking forward to contributing soon!

Well good news is that I was able to get a much better scan out of it using the TWAIN driver and another software called Paperscan Pro but it crashed once I tried several pages but I have not updated this software in 2 years so perhaps that memory error is fixed since my machine has ample memory. That 15% off is really tempting though as I really like the ScanSnap software and the ix1600 looks like a nice unit. But its also nice having a TWAIN driver giving ability to use any scanning software. Also I do have a ton of computer magazines, movie magazines, and some gaming mags to scan so the faster speed might be nice but have a feeling 40ppm vs 60ppm is not a huge difference for me. The TWAIN advanced settings allows for Tone Adjustment with custom setting for each Brightness, Contrast, Shadow, Highlight, Gamma. Or can also import some pattern gma file which I have no idea on what that is. I wonder if anyone here has some suggested settings that have worked well for magazines for that Tone adjustment. The current custom settings are Brightness: 82 Contrast: 128 Shadow: 10 Highlight: 230 Gamma: 1.00

Looks like they must have removed this software for newer serial numbers. You might be grandfathered in for yours. My serial # works for all the other applications but it will not allow ScanSnap. Unless someone here can provide this ScanSnap software package for me to try with scanner, its going back to Amazon as a return next week. Which will be unfortunate as I cannot contribute without an ADF scanner due to it being to time consuming otherwise. Thanks.
-
Ordered from Amazon from seller Amazon.com Services LLC. Have you tried recently to obtain this software as maybe they changed what they allow to be downloaded. If not then yes something is wrong with my serial # perhaps grey market. So next will contact and call Fujitsu then as not happy with the results from PaperStream software at all.
-
Using Paperstream as its only choice. If I try to download the ScanSnap it asks for serial number and says not available. If someone can share that would be great, please PM me.
-
I read on this site that the ScanSnap software produces better scans from the fi7160, but Fujitsu will only allow me to download this very badly designed PaperStream Capture software. Can anyone help as I am not very happy with the scans coming out of this expensive scanner and may return it before the 1/31 return date. I am hoping though with some tweaking it can work well as it flies thru scanned a debound magazine.
