  1. HAHAHA! I just hate how the 360 controller is an extreme POS. Things so jumpy with the analog AND digital controls.. it's terrible. I do like the SFIV fight pads and stuff they've come out with though, very cool. I've been playing Street Fighter religiously ever since II and I didn't think I would like this game(I've been let down by a few SF games in the past), but I find myself not able to play any of the others any more after playing this one. And the online features make it just like being in an arcade beating up on some random fool who steps up! I love it!
  2. You can upload in HQ on YouTube now which helps preserve it a bit more. Thanks for posting these, I'm gonna give em a watch. I didn't see them when they first aired, surprisingly.
  3. I have quite a few magazines I might be able to contribute or possibly sell to anyone who wants to contribute. The include Ultra Game Players, Game Players, Gamefan, Nintendo Power, Sega Visions and some others. A lot of the Sega Visions don't have their covers, though and I'm sure I'm missing a few pages here and there.. Also some PSM and Dreamcast magazines here and there. I may make a list later on if I have the time. I also have the first 50 or so Sonic the Hedgehog comics. I may scan the first few issues soon just to see how they come out without unbinding them. Does anyone have the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles magazine that you were sent from being a member of the fan club? I really would like to read those again!
  4. I didn't like CBDS.. it seemed too hard to read and navigate. I don't recommend it.
  5. This is pretty great! Anyone ever play Shadow Warrior?
  6. I always loved the challenge of Star Road, ever since I found the Tubular stuff.. Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan(Lost Levels All-Stars) is a fun and challenging game. It seems that parts of that game are made to see how quickly you can make it through the level, things just flow so well at some points. Very good game, if you haven't played through it yet, give it a try. Definitely worth it once you get used to the different physics from Mario 1.
  7. Kind of a dumb game but I just remembered one of mine.. Robocop vs. Terminator was kinda gritty. And fighting that huge robot thing from Robocop made me pee my pants! That thing is freaky.
  8. I saw that once at an asian maket.. I think in 1997. I had a chuckle at it. I remember a friend and I were looking far and wide, running his mom around for hours trying to find Chip N Dale for NES! We were fans of the show and the game looked so fun and we couldn't find it anywhere! Then one weekend he brought it back from a faraway Blockbuster and we almost beat it that weekend... Then at some point I coaxed my parents into buying it. What a great game, good memories as well.. Ducktales and Darkwing Duck are two other great Capcom Disney games. Even if they're somewhat of Megaman clones. Capcom always did have some great original spins off of their classic ideas. Just look at the many SFII's... X.X
  9. Cartridges are a bit much.. I'd say do like the DS and use an SD sized card. No loading and there's so much space available now that we could have another good little revolution in gaming. I think a lot of people are coming back to classic gaming because games these days are nothing more than somewhat playable movies. Kinda boring. Give me gameplay and challenge.
  10. I don't own a PSP but I've used many, and even used a modded one. I have to say PSP is a great handheld, but it has crap for games whereas DS has the games to back itself. The DS has a great game library and that's almost all DSi needs. I'm sure they'll be modding it sometime in the future for homebrew, etc. also, once they figure it out. Then I'm sure it'll be on par more with the PSP. I'm happy enough for now playing through all my old NES games on using my M3 card with my DS. That's basically all I need! Don't care about multimedia much, these things are a bit big to lug around for that IMO.
  11. CONGRATS! Isn't it cool to see where it all started with the arrows and Gannon battle? I always have fun near the end of that game, it can be rough, though.. Zelda II is one of, if not THE, hardest Zelda out there. Second may well be the Zelda Second Quest. I think Nintendo Power has some walkthrus somewhere.
  12. I miss the days of Gaming Magazines. Sure, they're around today, but everything inside them has already been leaked through the internet. I miss not knowing what was coming up until the game companies wanted us to know, I miss the surprise at hearing of a new game and seeing beta screenshots and all that. Gone are the days... Anyone with me?
  13. A lot of these were yoinked from others, but I thought they were great choices! No particular order of importance. DDRMAX2 Dance Dance Revolution 7thMix Street Fighter 4 Metal Slug(collection if possible) Crime Busters TMNT 4 Player Star Wars w. cockpit 720 Mortal Kombat II Terminator 2 House of the Dead 4 Speaking of dram arcades, if you don't know how to go about putting together your own, I used to live with a family in CA who owned a business called SuperAuctions and they would auction off all kinds of arcade machines for cheap! They had all kinds, rare, common, vintage, new. Check them out sometime if you're interested, they have shows all over the US and possibly the world now! They do great business and you can get arcade machines for cheap!!
  14. Sega CD was a big letdown, but I found quite a few gems I love, nonetheless. Lunar, Spider-Man, Jurassic Park, Popful Mail, Sonic CD were the main draws. But overall, that system could've been better..
  15. Man, Super Metroid did have a lot of scary moments... Jurassic Park of SNES, too. The Sega CD Jurassic Park kicked my butt with scaring me... just seeing those dinosaurs coming at me and knowing I'd have to start all the way from the beginning was a pain, too! The first boss on Ninja Gaiden used to scare me, just imagining walking into some random bar and the lights turning on and that freak in my face! I'd have to change my tighty whiteys. It's sad, I used to get scared from game imagery a lot, but now I can hardly remember a one!
  16. That's really well done, thanks for sharing, I would've never come across that myself.
  17. Man, wish I had that power sometimes! ;D GH was great, Nights was great, Bug was kinda cool, Clockwork Knight was fun somewhat. I even liked Daytona USA even though there was nothing to it. I really loved Virtual On and Fighting Vipers, and the version of Street Fighter Alpha 2 that's on Saturn is just the best version, hands down, next to the arcade. And Sonic Jam, to me, is still one of the best Sonic compilations to date. I loved all the galleries and how everything was laid out in the Sonic World. And seeing Sonic run through that 3d world was pretty gnarly, I wish Sonic Adventure had been more like that.
  18. I always liked Adventure of Lolo for some puzzle action and quirkiness! And many people hate it but I love it, Milon's Secret Castle has always been an off-beat favorite of mine. The Nekketsu games were GREAT GREAT games! I love the one mentioned and I also like Crash and the Boys Street Challenge for some multiplayer fun!
  19. I'd have to go with Legend of Zelda when I was about 4. I made it surprisingly far for a 4 year old, I remember playing through level 5(with mom's help, I'm sure)! Then I moved to Zelda 2 and a few other games that I can't quite remember anymore. Anyhow, Zelda opened the door for me. Since the NES and those unknown RPGs I started with the best console RPG platform IMO, the SNES. From there in chronological order, I played- 1. Legend of Zelda - A Link to the Past 2. EarthBound 3. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest 4. Final Fantasy II 5. Final Fantasy III 6. Secret of Mana 7. Secret of Evermore 8. Chrono Trigger I mainly played all the classics from the system, I didn't deviate very much because I didn't like what I found. I could never get into Ultima or Phantasy Star, though I tried. I just didn't like how they looked and played.
  20. Hi Retromags forum! I'm a 25 year old gamer from WV, formerly of Fort Lauderdale FL, Long Island NY, and Huntington Beach CA, and I've been playing and following video games and their culture since I was 3. My first system wasn't Atari though, it was in fact the NES. I still own my original NES and play it often, I just replaced the pin connector about a year ago so it would work like new. I also proudly own every system since the NES, excluding a few handhelds and the newer gen of consoles. I also have fond memories of coming across emulators with my friend for the first time circa 1996. We searched on Lycos for 'Nintendo on computer,' came across Nesticle, and have been playing all types of emulators ever since. My favorite emulators right now are the ones I play on my NDS lite with M3 cart. I've always been in love with gaming mags and have been a fan of Mega Play, Sega Visions, classic Gamepro, and of course Nintendo Power. I saw above that someone was looking for Sonic the Hedgehog comics, I have quite a few from the very beginning, and I may scan them if I can do so by keeping them in decent shape. I was also sort of wondering if anyone had issues of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles magazine from the early 90s. I've been dying to see those again, especially one issue which I swear up and down had a Sonic the Hedgehog comic inside that explained his origins. If anyone has that issue and is willing to scan it, please PM me! I first came across Retromags a few years back, but didn't join. I thought it was a great idea, though, and since then I've bee lead back here seeking out the old Nintendo Power issues to help me through some games I've been playing lately. I hope to contribute anything I come across while going through my old stacks of junk from years past and hopefully meet some new people to geek out with. Thanks for making this site! It's a great idea!
