Mega Man 3: A Stinking Pile Of Crap

Yeah, the real MM3 on the NES was one of the best in the series. But the jumping mechanics in these games do take a bit of getting used to, being more vertical than horizontal as opposed to vice versa in most platformers. Control while in the air possible, but it's easy to over- or under-correct.

Yeah, I just never cared for the feel of jumping in early NES games such as Castlevania and Megaman. I jumped for joy when SMB2 came out and I found out the Princess could float. I love the direction of the new Castlevania games for the GBA and NDS. Hopefully someone puts that type of overhaul on the Megaman series and gets us some playable games. Or is the MegaMan series dead with all those Battle games?

Wow, that was a "Fast Reply"

Actually, the series is taking a retro turn with a modern twist. Mega Man 9 is being done in the old NES engine style but only available on the various Virtual Console type things, I think. I suppose there's good and bad to this, but if you're going to keep rehashing the same formula, why not go back to the roots?

I dunno, why cant they follow the same formula Nintendo went with "New Super Mario Bros", where they do incredible backgrounds and controls and utilize the touch screen. The DS is where they need to be making MegaMan games for!

The prefer the NES Mega Man 3 to MM2 for a few reasons:

- It's the first one I played in the series

- Rush, Mega Man's robotic dog who fills in for MM2's transportation power-ups, adds a bit more character

- The ability to Slide under attacks/ledges/etc, while not a proper platformer ducking action, it is innovative

- Even more unique boss stages, plus the ability to test MM3 weapons on MM2 boss clones late in the game

- Other stuff I can't remember
