  1. Official Sega Saturn Magazine 023 - september 1997 (UK) Wiki page here. Download page here. Rapidshare link Enjoy!
  2. The only reason I finally got one last year was because I loved Tempest 2000 ever since it came out one PSone and I always wanted to play the original version with hundreds of thousands particle effects. I wasn't disappointed. So if you haven't played it yet and you love old school arcade style games, be sure to pick up a copy for cheap. Not sure which cables came with yours as I only got a regular composite connections, which are pretty fuzzy for a game such as this. Loss of most of the colours, the background particles all being white, etc. So I bought an RGB cable as well (Europe), and it's so great. I guess people in the US probably got an S-Video cable instead. Not sure about that.
  3. Don't worry, you won't get banned for this. Especially since it isn't something that comes up 10 times a day. However we will under no circumstance scan or distribute any recent magazines like that. (5 year rule, blabla, etc. you say you've read them so I won't have to go over that) The thing is that it's hard to draw the line again once it's been crossed, so we won't be doing that, for lots of reasons. My suggestion would be just like kbf_private_joker said, try ebay or perhaps even amazon. There is bound to pop up a copy sooner or later.
  4. For me its' a tossup between 1 and 3. I'm using Canon Scangear software along with Photoshop for scanning and have all the image settings set to either OFF or NONE. But comparing the actual magazine to the scan, I have to adjust the saturation by +20 to get the most accurate and vibrant picture possible. A lot depends on the screen you have as well, compared to my new one, my old one only seems to show brown and grey shades.
  5. Well my Dragon Quest 4 DS has just shipped, but that isn't exactly retro, so here's the other one: Thanks to Rich and Damo over at MeanMachinesMag for reminding me how great this game is. Never picked it up at the time and completely forgot it existed.
  6. It might have something to do with your scanners drivers. I made a mistake where I plugged in my scanner in a different usb port once and XP configured the scanner itself, using it's own drivers. The result was some kind of rainbow effect. The only way to undo this was to do a system restore to a previous date before the mistake. I Installer my Canonscan CD again just to be sure before plugging in my scanner and everything was back to normal. This probably won't help much, but there's so many variables that could play a part in something like that, so I though I just throw this out there...
  7. Yeah, Philly already hinted at that. I would otherwise not have noticed I think since it's on the bottom half of the page. Anyway, I'm going to upload a small edited version since I seem to have spelled video game as videogames. Oh and I might change the logo a bit as well. Could be a premonition to something bigger....
  8. When I read the first sentence of your post I was going to say that it might be best we created a separate manual section, and by the 3rd paragraph you mentioned it yourself.
  9. Well if there are people out there that believe Mario Galaxy is anything but amazing, then surely there are those that think Zelda is crap. No matter how wrong they are.
  10. Well Zelda isn't actually an RPG, and the Dragon Quest games and FInal Fantasy ones never came out over here, my first one was Mystic Quest on the SNES. Not the greatest game, but I loved it at the time because it was something that I never had seen before. This was a couple of years before I started importing games.

We're actually working on something like that, but it way to early to be revealed.

Overall "August industry sales remain strong and realized a 9% gain over last August, although the month posted the first single-digit percentage growth in 27 months" "Despite smaller growth this month, the industry is up 32% year-to-date and remains on target to achieve annual revenues in the range of $22 to $24 billion" "Across hardware, software and accessories, products for the Wii platform contributed 28% of total industry dollar sales for the month of August" Hardware "The PSP and PS3 systems achieved the greatest percentage gain of all now-gen systems. The sales acceleration of these systems, combined with the recent Xbox 360 price cuts should fuel future growth of this category" Software[/u][/b] "Madden NFL '09 was the top-selling game of the month, and launched with 2.3 million units out of retail doors in it's first month, besting last year's '08 title by 2%. Year after year, the industry can count on the Madden release to bring folks into stores during the relatively lazy days of late summer" "Year-to-date, Grand Theft Auto IV remains the top-selling game at 4.8 million units sold in the U.S. through August" "Wii Play continues its remarkable track record, achieving a 44% attach rate to new Wii hardware sales for the month. It has remained a top-10 game each month since it's February 2007 introduction" Accessories "Xobx Live point cards and gold membership cards represented three of the top-10 accessory items for the month which sheds a little light onto the popularity of this service to Xbox 360 fans"
  13. Hehe, well other programs usually offer sort-alike options. Could it be that you were doing the scan in a room where there was a lot of sunlight coming in? I have noticed that if I sit in direct sunlight or close to it, my scans tend to be more discolored and sometimes show horizontal rainbow stripes, so they need to be redone.
  14. You mean that they look a bit washed out compared to the actual copy? That's not a problem at all. You can easily correct that upping the saturation with +20 in Photoshop. The same thing happens to my own scans. I created an action in Photoshop which ups the saturation with +20 then resizes to a width of 1440 and then saves the PSD file as a jpg at a quality of 9. That way I can load up a bunch of cleaned up scans, choose the destination folder and they come out ready to be turned into a cbz in a minute.
  15. Thanks for the info. I did indeed ask about more info on this magazine. It will make it easier to create a wiki page on it.
  16. Another vote for the GErman Club Nintendo magazine. I come across them all the time on ebay, but I have too much stuff on my plate already to buy another set of magazines that I won't get to in the first few years.
  17. Sweet haul there, but you do realize that there were Famicom Wars and GB Wars games before Advance Wars, do you?
  18. He still has to get back to me concerning the shipping costs, but these are the magazines in question. 21. Nah, I'm sticking with Safari. Perhaps if it matures a bit it might become a serious competitor, but right now I don't see much advantage in it. Looks like it's Windows only as well...but I'm not sure. If anything, should I ever switch browser again, I would probably return to Firefox.
  22. Downloaded it yesterday and I had to stop myself from playing any further and finally go to bed at 3.30AM. Today I started playing again and after an hour or 2 I already completed the game. There seems to be a lot of hate at the short length of it, which probably is understandable. But I look at it in a different way. Every game that has the player begging for more content has to be damn good by itself. I'd much rather have a short but oh so sweet experience like this that the umpteenth generic FPS that offers nothing new except for more pretty graphics. As some may know, I switched over to a Macbook Pro several months ago so gaming wasn't even on my list. But I did miss Half-Life a bit so I went and tried out Crossover Games, which is something like a Windows emulator especially for games. Technical details, Wine development etc. I have no idea how it all fits together. All I know is that it works. At first I put most of the graphical options on low as I thought it might not run that smooth and everything. But today I put them on High and everything runs just as good and looks so much better. Not really interested in PC games besides Valve games, but with the Half-Life 2 packs and Portal 2 hopefully soon I'll have plenty to keep me busy.
