Apparently the ONLY things you can important from the DS version is your character (minus the clothing) and your catalog from Nook...Everything else has to stay on the DS (this includes all items, bells, museum, etc.)

Let me clear it up for you Thor....There is no Wii Speak "Version" The Wii Speak is an add on that they will be selling later for (I believe) 20 - 30 dollars extra. This will be functional with AC:CF. Supposedly the Mic is powerful enough to pick up what anyone in the room is saying. I don't know if I will end up getting it (I do own a Playstation Eye...so chances are I will) but I know I will be getting the game when it comes out. By the end of the first couple of days I will probably have my first 2 mortgages paid off with shells and fish. Then to move on to the hitting animals in the head with nets thing Anyone moving over their AC:WW (DS) Catalog or are they starting over? (The European Release of AC:CF is scheduled for like December 2nd last I checked)

If you don't like the Chocobo music from Final Fantasy you are NOT human...or anything sentient for that matter But, I must say the early Mega Man games has some awesome music, especially for the time in which it was made.

I was just curious if anyone here is planning on getting the new Animal Crossing game for the Wii. I know it isn't really as much a game as a waste of time, but I use it to relax. It is kind of like my moment of Zen. I get to run around and do nothing (except maybe hit a few people over the head with a net...face it we all have those people we want to hit on the head with stuff). Anyone else planning on picking up the game on the 16th or 17th? If so please let me know and I will add you to my friends list so we can visit eachothers towns.

Yes, I totally agree with Meppi. Even if you live in a state like Illinois which is hopelessly one-sided when it comes to the presidential election, you can still vote in the other elections for States Attorney, Judges, etc. All of these elections are also very important and in some of those races every vote will count a lot.

Where were you watching an episode of it? I would love to see an episode, any episode, just for the memory of it. Any ideas where I could find it?

I am trying to come up with the name of (and if anyone has any episodes on tape or online) an old 80s tv show. It is NOT Nick Arcade I remember most fondly that at the end of the show whoever won got to run through a maze that was setup like a video game store wearing a Velcro outfit. Anything that they could carry with them (or on them) through the maze to the finish they got to keep. I remember there also being a section where the host (typical 80s over the top host) would give out "game tips" which consisted of stuff you all ready knew if you had an IQ over 50. At some point during hte show I think they asked the young contestants questions about different games in order for them to score points. The name might have been "game master" or something along those lines. I know this isn't the best description (and is probably showing my age) but I would really like to see an episode of that show again. I have tried searching the internet but can't seem to come up with anything. Anyone have any ideas? Someone please tell me I am not going completely crazy...yet.

50 Nes Quotes Every Gamer Should Know
Hidinger replied to Schloss Ritter's topic in Retro Video Gaming!
I think EVERYONE remembers their first fight against King Hippo. I was lucky, I won in a ref decision my first time. I watched my cousin fight him for like 45 minutes until he finally found the pattern by complete accident (There was no cheating youtube at that time). On another note, that website has a bunch of other classic stuff on it as well. I like the "top 15 most bull*hit game endings" he is right on a lot of them. -
as an attorney, I can safely say that this decision is not nearly as cut and dry as you have stated it. Yes, some of the old ROMs will be "legit" now and most of the emulators (especially for consoles that you can not buy. But there will be a lot of questions that come up in this case. For instance, there is a huge used game marketplace out there. This might be enough to trigger the "readily available" clause. Not to mention that just about any game that runs in an arcade cabinet would still be protected as they run on just about the same "hardware" and could easily be switched out for another (I do it all the time on my arcade machine at home). So while this decision is in the favor of Roms and Emulators it will be almost impossible to figure out which roms are still protected until there is some case law to back up such a decision.

Hey Phillyman or any of the mods, Is this reward system still going on? I just saw the post here and since there was little turnout I was wondering if it was still going on or if it was discontinued at the end of June.

I was going through an old box at my mother's house and I found a bunch of old Magazines (ones I didn't know I had). Is there a list somewhere of what is needed? It would probably be easier for me to just find ones that are needed then to post everything that was in the box. Most are in great condition but a few of the ones from 1994 and older have some worn corners. I don't currently have a scanner that could handle the task of scanning the images of the pages so I was going to try and help out the site if you needed any of the stuff in the box. So if there is some place where I could get a written list of everything that is needed or some kind of easy to read list of what all we have here I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Oh man, that is like having to chose which child is your favorite. I would have to say it is the one that they gave away at the World Nintendo Tournament. Nintendo World Championship 1990 I think it is called (Sadly it is one of the only games in my collection not in nearly perfect condition).

I will do whatever I can to help as soon as I can get back to my mother's house and grab my boxes of old magazines. Would anyone be interested in old instruction manuals? I think I have the instructions for just about every NES game and a bunch of others from random systems. Seems like they would fit with everything else.

Coffee I could live without. Actually I have never been able to take more then a sip of coffee, even though everyone I know keeps telling me how much I will love it.

Depending on which NES machine I was using I had a couple of tricks. (Funny, the original one I got when it first came out has never had a single cartridge issue). One of the old brick style machines required that I jam the cartridge in and then shove one of the controllers into it in order to hold the cartridge at the proper level. A different one (I had a big family so it was required to have more then one console to prevent death and/or destruction) you had to force the game in so that it barley went into the machine and rubbed up against the front. Then you had to lightly tap the outside to cause the cartridge to shift up slightly. If you tapped to hard you started over, if you didn't tap hard enough you would almost always get the sound, but no picture. It was more of a game getting that NES to WORK then actually playing anything.

Thrill Kill wasn't THAT bad. I mean it was a funny idea. IF you took it as a serious fighting game then yes, it was horrible. If you took it as something completly random and funny then it was actually pretty good. Something about a midget on stilts shoving his stilts down someones mouth as a "finisher" was funny. I would have to say, not to agree with the common belief but because I have actually beat it, E.T. for the Atari is the most epic fail. Something about a brown box pushing a smaller box upward and causing both brown boxes to fly didn't make sense. Also the random falling into holes where sometimes there was candy other times some guy in a suit didn't make sense either. Actually, after the title screen nothing made sense. You just moved your box around and that is about it.

In your opinion, what was the hardest NES game and why? (Please, lets stay away from things like " Tetris, because it is impossible to beat" as that doesn't make the game hard, just without a set ending.) For me it was Solomon's Keys. For some reason some of the levels in this top down puzzler were just insane. Granted it was probably a game made for adults and I was playing it when I was like 7 but still. Even when I go back and play it now I tend to die a few times. I think you have to be slightly demented to easily find the solutions to some of those levels.

What Was The First Game That U Mastered On Snes
Hidinger replied to rafik's topic in Retro Video Gaming!
That is impressive as that game could be down right stupid hard. It doesn't seem to be at first but it could easily get out of control and kill you off. (Kinda like trying to beat the original Contra on one life...Contra is super easy with the cheat code but because of that you don't realize that you actually die a few times in completing it). I think the first one I mastered was Pilot Wings. Something about the bonus diving things made me come back for more and more....and of course Pilot Wings DID have a jet-pack and that is just cool. -
I would give it somewhere between 8.5 and 9.5. I know it isn't an exact score, but I think it is a valid range depending on how someone plays the game. The camera can not only be bad sometimes but down right deadly. If you have ever played the (I believe it was the second secret level) level with the moving floor and Cookie Cutter Shapes cut out you should know what I mean. If you move the camera around to try and keep moving in the proper direction it will actually cut off the floor in a way that you can't see the upcoming shape to jump over. If you like to run and do the flying jump you will end up killing yourself again because the camera will take a wild turn depending on what objects you jump past (if you take your time and just run / regular jump to get places you may never even see this problem) No one out there can say with a straight face that the stupid "storytelling hour" didn't get boring after a while. There are many ways that story could have been told better. On the bright side, the whole rescue Luigi and take turns getting specials stars with him thing was a great idea. At least Luigi had a legit part in the story this time. (I am not counting the awesome, play as Luigi full time bonus for a perfect game). Sometimes the Bee Suit would not respond properly, no matter what you do. That being said I think no game has yet to be a Perfect 10 as the definition would say you couldn't do better and yet each year something better comes out. WIth the above issues, along with some lesser ones, SMG is an awesome game and worth a play through for any gamer.

I would agree with this. I think the idea is a great idea but this community is kinda small to make the most out of it. If only we could get more members. I found this site totally by accident ( I am really glad that I did). I think before we worry about blogging we should maybe try to come up with a way to get some more dedicated members, and perhaps in that expand the collectiong a little too. Then we can move on to blogging and such.

Seriously...why is there no love for the Virtual Boy I mean it was way ahead of its time. It gave you what everyone has at the very least thought about...3D Gaming. It wasn't really that bad either. Yes, it could blind you if you played too long, Yes, it went back to 3 shades of Red, Yes it ate through batteries like a Rabid Wolverine high on Pixie Stix...but it still gave everyone what they were dreaming about. Imagine what games would be like now if the technology caught on? Super Paper Mario for the Nintendo Wii actually uses a lot of the same mechanics as the Virtual Boy Wario did.

Sadly I agree. I even get a little excited when a new one is coming out. Then when I finally start playing it the happiness lasts about 3 hours. I mean really. Think of all the knocks franchise games take. For instance, every Mega Man game that came out got the "Yeah, but it is just like the other ones" comment. I could go on to compare this to Mario, MGS, Crash, etc. But for some reason no one ever really does that with GTA. I loved Vice City, don't get me wrong. The reason I loved it was because I like the 80s feel to the game. It just seems to me that each new GTA is almost the exact same game except set in a different time period. One could even say with far less ability to alter your character and vehicles to drive/fly in the new GTA that it is actually a step back from the last one...yet gets a higher score. I blame the media and the way that the general public now goes crazy over hype.

I would have said I was rotating between Wii Fit and Soul Calibur 4 but when the above poster mentioned Earthworm Jim 2 I got a retro flashback and now have to play all the way through Little Nemo Thanks to the above poster.

I have a copy of that in a box of old magazines at my mother's house. If she hasn't thrown it away I will try and get it for you next time I am at her house. I normally only make it over there about once a month (due to work) but will gladly look through the box and see if the poster is still in there. Please feel free to send me a message and remind me.
