  1. LoL. I told you that you would find it. I think I even told you that you would find it in a silly place Just glad that you did find it and that no one was stealing your stuff.
  2. I am with Triverse on this one. I think we could make it work. We all pretty much have enough of a background to know what people actually WANT to know and read.
  3. Maybe you left it in a desk drawer or something? I couldn't find my GPS for like 3 weeks because I slid it into a drawer at work that I never use. You might have done something like that. I would hope people just wouldn't care enough about your desk to even look.
  4. wait wait wait..you are telling me we are only $5,000.00 short from running our own magazine. I know I am somewhat new and all but I totally call a review position. Any quick fundraiser ideas out there? Of course other then the obvious CAR WASH!
  5. It isn't the 25k volts I would worry about if I were you...those old tubes put out like 15 amps. That is enough to make every internal organ boil in like 3 tenths of a second. Be careful with the RGBS to VGA convertor. I had a couple of them blow up on me. There really is no other way if you are using JAMMA though. If you ever see the screen brightness change more then once a play cycle then you want to replace the convertor. I have a bunch of old Jamma boards laying around. Most require specialized harnesses (Like Ghouls and Ghosts), but if you have a list of what you are looking for I might have it. (I quit making arcade cabinets a long time ago). I think making a MAME cabinet is always a lot of fun. Problem there is finding a front end program (the one that lists the games and lets you choose them.) All of the places I look ask for like $500.00 to make one for you. If you can find a good front end program for cheap MAME is awesome. P.S. No, you can NOT have my Street Fighter 2 BlackBelt addition where you can play as Sheng Long. (It was a hacked board that appeared at the height of SFII madness and encorporated the long hilarious EGM April Fools joke. Not only can you play as Sheng Long (Ryu mentions him in his post battle victory screen of "You must defeat Sheng Long to stand a chance." but you can also do most moves in mid air as well as several other wierd effects.))
  6. Ugh. I am going to feel old, but I believe mine was a D & D game for the Commodore 64. That was the first REAL RPG. It was totally text based and required a 7-layer wheel to enter the proper password to start. Yeah. I was a young kid then so just working the wheel properly was an rpg in itself. I think eventually I learned enough to get out of town and fight a "monster" but at that point I just gave up and went back to playing games that were more fun...with less reading.
  7. Did you allready call them? What did you have to tell them? Do I need a subscription number or how it was paid for? As long as they are offering a refund I might as well get something back from it. Just let me know what I need to have ready when I call so I can be prepared. Thanks.
  8. Yeah...as far as I can tell there really are no other choices. I HIGHLY Doubt it will be a refund. I think they should give out all of the cool stuff you know they have hanging around the EGM office. I wouldn't mind some of those promo games etc.
  9. Yeah, but you can't tell me that you didn't find his failure at attempting to be both "Cool" and "funny" at the same time to be hilarious.
  10. Yeah. I hear you there. I didn't by any means live by their reviews, but they were fun to read. Not to mention the "rest of the crap" or where they would make fun of old games like Barbie's Big Adventure. It will be missed. How expensive is it in Australia anyway? Who else will miss the awesome April Fool's Joke every year? Sheng Long?

    Rage!

If you are on the run from the cops you can crash at my place. Just tell my wife we were friends from Law School....she won't ask any questions. Seriously though...how do they mess up a fridge like that. Was there any reason for it? I mean was it close to a pipe or something? It just doesn't make any sense to me.
  12. QED This will sadly end the chance of any real game magazine now. I guess that will make ALL game mags "Retro" now. /sigh I just remember how awesome I felt when I got my first copy of Nintendo Power (issue 1). I still feel a small portion of that when I get a new EGM...well, when I USE to get a new EGM. I am telling you. Next thing I know I will get a little card with my subscription that it is being moved over to Power Ranger Monthly or Chaotic or something else stupid. It is a sad day for video games, video game magazines, and print media in general. If EGM can't make it with such a large and loyal base.....
  13. The biggest problem I have with optical media is that a small surface scratch can cause the thing to just quit at some point. I could drop a cartridge down a flight of stairs and have it bitten by my dog without causing it to mess up. Some of these discs (especially the blue ray ones) can get a scratch INSIDE their case. Either way, DLC is horrible as it is later impossible to prove what you "Own" as possession is 9/10th of the law.
  14. The hardware is just so fragile now. It is so easy for someone to ruin the cd tray on a X-box360...or blow out the GPU on a Dreamcast. I would never buy hardware without getting to try it out first. Just a basic rule of thumb. But then again I am really sceptical about buying CD based games used as I know how easy it is to put a surface scratch on one. It might look all right but if that scratch got just far enough it could ruin the game about halfway into it. I really haven't had any problems buying cartridge games online though. Saved a bunch of money on it.

    Rage!

Just so you know...a real world Fatality will probably end with you in jail. Granted, I would be honored to defend you as I had an apartment like that...except the ventilation smelled like cat piss...so the landlord sent out someone I am POSITIVE I saw on America's Most Wanted to replace all of the duct work under the apartment. I had to have everything at least 5 feet away from every duct...which of course was pretty much the entire apartment. Yeah. I know the feeling and I feel for you.
  16. Abuse sales like no tomorrow. I got my PS3, an extra controller, and HDMI cable, and a game for $250.00 a few months after the thing came out. It was a long complicated process of Best Buy sales, price matching, and coupons. I had a friend just buy a used Xbox360, cables, 2 controllers, and 2 games for $150.00. Check places like Ebay and Craigs List for cheap second hand consoles. I have been there since Colecovision as well..I feel the pain. I cry whenver Gamespot tells me what my game/system library is worth.
  17. Reminds me of that April Fools joke where they had the Urinal Wii game.
  18. I would have to say Super Mario World. I had teh first 2 "worlds" mastered just from playing the demo box they had at Target a few months before the game came out. Sadly the dang thing reset after about 15 minutes...so beating world 2 was actually a feat in that reguard. There were probably several others that came after, but just the bright colors and different gameplay made me master SMW first. Besides, everyone loves Yoshi.
  19. As a person who has done a lot of both physical and DL games, I must say I too like the physical game. I like the artwork that comes with it, the nice manual I can read when I stop and get something to eat on the way home from the store. Heck, I even like the hunt to get the game...especially when I know it is going to be hard to find. None of these things happen when you just hit "buy it now" and "download in background". Yeah, it is nice to have access to the game by just going online. I also don't want to really have ANOTHER copy of a Street Fighter II manual, but still...physical is the way to go...at least at the end of the day I can look at my collection and know it is mine. It just doesn't feel that way with DLC.
  20. If you need to know where the bottles are I can tell you Philly. I am sure they are the two 'hard' ones to find. I just don't want to spoil it for you. There are soo many great things about that game. It is rather epic in its time and still a great game today.
  21. 2 very small platforms directly after a pipe leading into a required run-jump. Yeah. I know the one. For some reason it isn't nearly as bad after you get it the first time. But that first time can be a-nnoy-ing
  22. The problem will be that here you are likley to, if you get a redirected subscription at all, get something like Power Rangers Monthly (PRM). Quite a different magazine then EGM.
  23. Yeah, Phillyman can be quite generous But you will probably have some fierce competition from this group.
  24. Oh my goodness, I had forgotten about that. The last level, where you fly the airplane was awesome too. Didn't you get a level select once you beat the game...but sadly you would lose the level select when you powered off (no save feature means it doesn't remember you beating the game). Lets remake THAT game for the Wii.
  25. I feel your pain. I think my subscription is good till 2012. Think they will issue a rebate or something if they can the whole thing. One would think they would have to...unless they just let the Mag go and declare bankrupcy. Then we won't get anything back. I really miss the hay-day of print magazines. I have like 5 copies of Dragon Warrior for the NES because they kept giving them away free with subscription renewals. Now I can't even count on getting my subscription fulfilled.
