  1. It does look very good indeed. I have to confess that I have never gotten into the Final Fantasy series before but I might have to make this game my introduction.
  2. For general info on Bittorrent read THIS GUIDE. For the torrents themselves, search mininova.org.

Dammit Blazer, If you're going to make a post you should at least provide some basic level of information. What game was it? Was it a demo? Is there a web site that you can link to with more information about this promotion? Is the game any fun? Sorry for the flaming, I just abhor posts that have poor grammar, spelling, and no useful information.
  4. It has a LAN card. It's not on a home network, it's in a building at a university and the Netwprk Administrator forbids any OS older than Win2K. I don't exactly know why this rule exists but I don't really have a way around it. Also, because this machine is in use at school I can't really turn it into a gaming machine or a file server. I think that my best option at this point is to try to find a cheap USB card as my main concern is being able to get files onto and off of this machine for data entry. My problem at this point is that it has an early version of Win98 and most cards that I'm seeing only support Win98SE.
  5. Nice cleanup work 420. Big thanks to cartoondream on the Chrono Trigger guide too! The other expensive guides that we're lacking are the Final Fantasy III and Super Mario RPG guides
  6. I won the Mario Kart 64 guide tonight. I've noted this in the list above.
  7. To quote Wikipedia: "Icons is a documentary TV show on G4 that used to focus on significant people, companies, products, history, and milestones in world of video games. It was relaunched in 2006 and now focuses entirely on pop culture."
  8. I won the following Nintendo promotional tapes on eBay today: Donkey Kong Country Nintendo 64 Starfox 64 Diddy Kong Racing Banjo Kazooie Check them out: \\ Although a couple of these are already available on YouTube I'd like to release them in better quality XviD files under the Retromags banner. It may be a month or so before these are released since I still have to pick up and install the capture card in addition to figuring out a couple of tricks like converting the Retromags.com banner into a 3 second video clip to start and end each video. Please let me know if you can give pointers on this. The DKC video is from Sears but I'm 95% sure that it's the same thing that Nintendo Power sent out to subscribers. I'm very excited about both the DKC and th N64 videos because they are both the oldest and they are also unavailable on YouTube. I'm glad that this part of the project is finally becoming a reality. If you know of or have access to any other promotional tapes for Nintendo or any other system that would qualify as "retro" (5+ years old) let me know and we'll try to get it released.
  9. I'll be trying to get some Nintendo Promotional videos off of ebay tonight so that we can get our first retromags video releases underway. There are two auctions: one for a Donkey Kong Country video and one for a lot of 3 that has the Nintendo 64, Starfox 64, and Banjo Kazooie promotional tapes. I'll post later to let everyone know if I won them or not.
  10. I have a very old PC at school that my advisor wants to use for basic tasks such as data entry. Here are the specs: I'm not sure of the processor but I'd guess that it's around 200-300Mhz (AMD K6). It has 64 MB RAM, a 20 GB hard drive (noisy too!) and it is currently running Windows 98. All that we currently run on this machine is MS Office. My problem is that we're moving away from using floppy disks and this machine has no USB ports and our network doesn't support any Windows operating system older than xp/2000. Because of this it's hard to get files off of the computer without resorting to the dreaded floppy disks (no it doesn't have a CD burner either). We don't really want to sink any money into this clunker at this point so upgrades/add ons like USB cards, additional RAM, or bigger hard drives are not options. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  11. I saw this interesting story over at Cnet today. Here's a link to the article. It's definitely worth a look if you're interested in the legality of ripping content from discs that you legally own.
  12. These games are AWESOME. I hope that they get an official US release. What would be really cool is if they were released all together on one cartridge. Either way, I'd get them as long as the price wasn't too high.
  13. I know they're not available in the US yet but I've been very intrigued by this series since I first heard of it. Did you download them from somewhere?
  14. I got myself a laptop last weekend, but it wasn't my birthday. I just couldn't pass it up at $400 with no rebates or any of that nonsense. 1.4 Ghz Celeron, 512 MB RAM, 60 GB HD, 14" widescreen display, and built in wireless G.
  15. That's bizzare. I was on Wikipedia just about an hour before you made this post and thought about looking up "launch title" but decided that it would probably just contain a lame definition. Nice find! If the Wii is launching with as many titles as that page indicates, I'm going to have a hard time deciding what to get!
  16. Nice USB port on the front there. Convenience at its finest!
  17. Because people like me will watch them.
  18. I was just looking around online and found an article that offers another theory. It can be found HERE. The article suggests that the launch date is likely to be October 2nd. One of the more interesting pieces of supporting evidence listed for this date is that Walmart.com has listed several Wii launch titles with an October 2nd release date. Also interesting in this article is an independent arrival at the same James Bond theory that I arrived at before reading the article. I'll keep my fingers crossed for 10/2 but I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet.
  19. Actually, that's the SAME date as Sony's release of the PS3. If the date is accurate (which it may not be), then Nintendo could be banking on consumers having to purchase either one system or the other and deciding that the Wii is a better value. With the PS3 likely costing 2.5 to 3 times as much as the Wii, I'd say that's a gamble that Nintendo can afford to take, especially given people's reactions at E3. Remember that video of all of the people rushing past Sony's booth to get to Nintendo's?
  20. As you are probably aware, Nintendo has not yet officially announced the launch date for their Wii console. Last week however, they issued a press release containing the following sentence in the opening paragraph: "Perhaps the secret to the launch information for Wii is somehow encoded in the text of this news item." The release didn't contain any clear clues but after an announcement today I have a theory. Today Nintendo announced that they will be offering consumers a chance to try out the Wii before it's release at the Nintendo Fusion Tour. The tour ends on November 11th. This made me think that the Wii launch date is probably after November 11th. So I went back to the first press release and found this sentence: "As series go, FINAL FANTASY is to video games what James Bond is to movies." It seems like an odd statement. Then I remembered that there's a new Bond film coming out this year, and the release date is....November 17th. So that's my theory, that the Wii launch date will be November 17th.
  21. OK MKDS fans, I need some help. I am trying to unlock all of the staff ghosts in time trial mode for the retro courses and the only one that I can't seem to get even though my thumbs are sore and worn raw is SNES Donut Plains 1. My best time is 1:14:564 using Bowser and ROB-LGS. I have tried a lot of different kart/racer combinations but nothing has gotten me a shorter time so far. I powerslide at every available opportunity and mushroom boost through the shortcut on every lap but I just can't seem to get my time down enough to unlock the staff ghost. I have looked at the info at gamefaqs.com but I can't find any tips that help. I have the feeling that there's a kart/player combination that I am missing that will shave a second or two off of my time. I would appreciate any suggestions from people who have managed to unlock the staff ghost for this track.
  22. If for any reason you need to share your e-mail address with other forum members, please do so using the Private Message tool that can be found on the profile page of any member you wish to contact. This is in your best interest as public e-mail address postings can both be a security threat to your account and dramatically increase the amount of spam mail that you receive.
  23. I realized that after following the link, but thanks for the info.
  24. I probably play about 5-8 hours per week. It's a lot more when I get a new game. I also plan for that to increase since I just sent my original model DS to my best friend from college so that we can play Mario Kart online. We probably spent more time playing Mario Kart 64 than we did taking any two college courses!
