Sorry, double post because the forum is still acting up.

Personally, I always find it logical for all N64 things to be in the "N64 category" and Psx in the "PSX category". From inside that category it seems like Alphabetical order of magazine title and then numberical based on release of that issue seems best. Does that help you at all Areala?

Seriously, kids do not know how easy they have it. That joint between your thumb and index finger would ache to no end after about 30 minutes of playing with that joytsick. For later C64 stuff you HAD to tap. There was no other option.

I miss my Commadore 64. I first learned how to code on one of those. You had to know how to code just to get "Jumpman" to run on that thing. And yes, I still get Atari Thumb in my right hand from playing that silly thing. Especially Kangaroo...I loved that game.

Yeah...it makes no sense. I just hate to think that it is more then just the 12 year olds that are doing it. It seems like Rage Quitting is even worse in Halo with the fact that you lose a ton of points as well. That being the case it seems like more and more people just can't deal with the idea of a "Loss". It seems like now-a-days you can't even tell someone they are anything other then above average without getting in trouble for it. At that rate no games will ever finish except in a massive "Rage Quit".

Odyssey II. I know it was before my time, but I got that and a Coleceovision at a garage sale when I was a kid. Got me hooked hard. So hard that my parents bought me an Atari 2600 when it came out.

that you are Triverse Fixed that quote for you Boss.

LOL, yes, that was a good one. I love how one simple record can go that far out of control on that show. I also was a big fan of the time Peter got red furry footie pajamas so that he didn't have to chose between being warm AND going to the bathroom. Only to find out the joys of static electricity.

From the sounds of it, you are pro action/adventure but nothing that requires lots of reading or resource management. I always found that Age of required quite a bit of micromanagement (and reading what each new unit does). Maybe you are a closet RTS player

Rage Quitters - Face it, about 80% of us have done this at some point. Now lets start by addressing the fact that, yes, sometimes the internet connection will drop in the middle of an online game (counsel or PC). This article is not directed towards the people who happen to have a shoddy internet connection. I will even go so far as to allow for the fact that most online game netcode is bad enough to actually drop some button inputs. In online fighting games (say Marvel v. Capcom 2 or even BlazBlu and Tekken), one dropped input can easily be the difference between a win and a loss. Don't get me wrong, yelling and screaming when this happens is a perfectly natural thing. The growing problem in online games today is the people who rage quit simply because they are currently losing. The match doesn't even have to be over. What is it about society today that makes it so that people feel it is perfectly fine to take away someone's win just so YOU do not get a loss. No one is going to get any better with the practice. The person who quit will continue the downward spiral into Rage Quitting every time and the other player just lost a portion of their life they will never get back due to Rage Ignorance. Do not get me wrong, I consider myself an Elite Tekken player. When I lose a match online in Tekken I get upset...but I take the loss and learn from it. During Tekken DR Online, I took a loss that dropped me from the top 10 on the National Ranking board. It would have been easy to yank the cord out from the wall and stay in the top 10, but where is the fairness in that? Now other games, say Marvel v. Capcom 2, I am a horrible player. I am guessing my record is somewhere around 46 - 47. I have never once quit out of a game, no matter how hard I was being spanked. I have played several people who use only the "god tier" characters and if I manage to get them below half health will automatically quit out. What is it about online games now that brings this rage quitting into such prevalence. It happens so often, it is almost not even worth playing online games anymore. The purpose of playing online games is to get the experience of playing against something other then the routine actions of the computer, not to start a match and have it end 6 seconds later. Anyone know what is causing the insane increase in rage quitters? Is it the fact that people can no longer handle the idea of "losing" or are people so worried about their record that they could care less? Does everyone think that they are just the "Ultimate" in every game? Any ideas on how this can be fixed? Personally I am all for a system that keeps track of how many uncompleted games that a person has. After a certain number, it should just go ahead and reset their record (if not ban them after a lot of them). This way people who legitimately have a bad connection will still get to play the game, but those that are raging over their records will have no purpose to pull the plug. IT NEEDS TO STOP! {/end rant} I challenge anyone to come up with a good reason to rage quit in the middle of an online game. Especialy in a game like BlazBlu where you actually get points...even for losing. As always, all comments are appreciated and I will do my best to respond to all questions.

Viral Video's And Their Legal Consequences.
Hidinger commented on Hidinger's blog entry in Legal Gamer
Yeah, exactly. Do / Should videos like that which incorporate insanely dangerous stunts require some sort of warning. It is now SOOO much easier for people to get these videos (everything has an internet connection now). Is it reasonable to require someone to take some form of responsibility for posting these things and in that encouraging others (especially small children who do not know any better). -
Yeah, I have to admit, the first time you are playing through Resident Evil and the dogs jump through the windows in the hallway...you jump. I pretty much gave up on the whole "Survival Horror" thing when I was playing one of the Resident Evils and got all the way to the end to realize I needed an item that I left in a box at the very beginning of the game (because I have limited pocket space and the boxes are not connected). I then had to run back for like 28 minutes to pick it up and then run all the way back.

What does the Positive and Negative votes do? Is there a ranking system for positive votes? Are you penalized if you get negative ones?

If someone produces a fake video and plays it off as real, should they be held legaly responsible for injuries sustained by others who attempt to copy the actions without knowledge that it is faked. In today's society, a video can go "viral" in a matter of seconds. This means that it is seen by millions before it could ever be taken down. Realize also, it is a legal fact that once something is on the internet for longer then 3 seconds it is considered to be always available on the internet. Notice how the video in question "Megawoosh" does not have any disclaimer showing that someone should not try this at home. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILD97YEAn6E Based on my knowledge and experience in Personal Injury Law, I believe that this will be the new frontier for injury claims. Without a disclaimer (hey, even McDonalds Hot Coffee has a disclaimer that it is hot)or some other form of "Do Not Try This At Home" (even car commercials tell you that it is a stunt driver on a closed course), I believe that these people could be held accountable for injuries that are caused by people trying this at home. This leads to the next question, if video's on the internet are grounds for Personal Injury cases, does that mean that without proper warnings and disclaimers that video games could be next? All Comments are appreciated and I will attempt to answer any questions I receive.

What Is Your Favourite Point-&-click Adventure?
Hidinger replied to Sky10w10w's topic in Retro Video Gaming!
I went ahead and did that. The next thing you know you will be replacing all of your computer screens with high def monitors because you want to up the quality so it is all the same. Nothing sucks more then watching something in one room, then going to the next only to realize the quality isn't the same and having to move back. -
Hidinger just go ahead and add me

It is out in Europe now! Remember that you will probably have to download their new demo first. If you ever want to play or farm the gold trophy ( 50 one char victories online) message me here or send an invite when I am on. Going to be a busy weekend, but ivwill probably be on all night tonight.

Didn't they have an episode last season (or two seasons ago) where Stewie played out a simulation where he DID in fact kill Lois and take over the world? I think he kinda gave up the idea (temporarily) because it "didn't turn out well" for him.
-
I didn't see that. Happy Birthday Triverse! If there is anything I can do to make your birthday better, have Meppi do it!

Did anyone pick up Capcom's rerelease (with minor tweeks) of Marvel v. Capcom 2? I was hoping to find some cool people to play against and not the ones that rage quit because I got crazy lucky. Not to mention, a couple of the trophies are ridiculously hard (where hard means it would take a lot of luck or the ability to play forever..neither of which I have) and was hoping to have someone I could farm them with.

Sega Genesis Turns 20 On Friday (let's Have Some Fun With It)
Hidinger replied to triverse's topic in Retromags News
I went into the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign and ordered the part directly from the campus "electronic parts" store. I am guessing most major universities that have an ECE program will have a parts store. Just say you are a student and that you will come pick it up when it comes in. (Granted I use to be a student and my ID card worked for a discount) They should have or have access to just about any electronics part you can think of. I actually rigged my Gamecube to play DVDs with parts from that store. -
DANG IT. I had a video OF excessive blood, swearing, etc. I wanted everyone to see it!

Nyxquest (if You Get Only One Wiiware Game, Make It This One)
Hidinger replied to triverse's topic in Retromags News
Yeah. I agree with you, I just thing it might require less of the "retro" and more focus on the current generation to get that to happen. Unless, we sent out releases or something to some of the older companies to let them know we wanted to highlight some of their older properties. That might work. -
Transformers had a lot of stuff blow up, but if you are into more of a legit story or even if you are into the mythos of transformers you would have been dissapointed. Terminator was kinda sucky. District 9 looks good and I am also looking forward to "Gamer" because we have ALL thought of that one.

Nyxquest (if You Get Only One Wiiware Game, Make It This One)
Hidinger replied to triverse's topic in Retromags News
I don't mind you getting paid, heck 99% of the people on this site wish they got paid to play games...I just like to know if you are getting paid before I read your review. No matter how hard one tries, the fact that they are getting paid always changes the review (not necessarily for the better...trust me). Too bad we can't extend this site enough to get all of us passes to 3E as "media personel". There HAS to be a way...
