  1. pretty regularly. i've got my NES (my fave system) hooked up in my basement and built a shelf to hold all my games. i have a notebook that i keep high scores in and invite friends over all the time for a round of Battletoads, or Super Tecmo Bowl, or whatever.
  2. i've got one. i get it out and play it maybe once a year.
  3. yes. i mean, obviously. the original post was from almost 4 years ago. there hasn't been any new systems or game released since 2012. who knew the OP was going to be so on-point?
  4. i had it in my cart and was checking out. i got a pop up that told me that "items in my cart were removed due to stock". this was yesterday about 9pm or so. lame.
  5. i've got a Wii-U. the game i'm looking forward to the most is Zelda-U (or whatever they call it). i am most intrigued by Mario Maker. can't wait to find out more info: release date, price, online capabilities, etc. such a cool concept.
  6. my mom had an Atari when she was a teen, so as a kid i played that. probably my first gaming. my uncle (her brother) had an Intellivision, which i thought was the coolest thing ever. we got an NES in 1986 i believe. i was 4. i still have it and it still works, although i've picked up a toploader since then and never use my original anymore. it definitely has made the most impression on me since i still play it and collect games. it spawned my lifelong Nintendo love. we didn't have a whole lot of arcade machines around here. the ones that made the most impact on my gaming life: Dig Dug. it was at a local pub and my brother and i would just fill that puppy up with quarters. Ninja Turtles. X-Men. both were at the skating rink. whenever we went there (bday parties and such) most of my time was spent playing one of these. Tekken (2 i think?) local bowling alley had this one. always played as King because he had a tiger mask and used pro wrestling moves. coolest thing ever. Lucky & Wild. two player, one shoots and the other drives & shoots. one of my good friends and i played the shit out of this game in the late '90s.
  7. never had the original, but my younger brother did. first nintendo handheld i picked up was the Game Boy Pocket.
  8. i'm looking forward to the next main console: Wii-U & Me!
  9. i too am confused about the lack of an AC cord. is it made to use with the current 3ds one, or is it a must-buy?
  10. both systems are nigh-identical as far as specs go. their setups and menus are quite different. the two things that should be your deciding factors are: 1. what system do my friends have and play on so we can play together? 2. what system-exclusive titles am i most interested in playing?
  11. my favorite N64 game were anything that i played multiplayer with my friends. WCW/NWO Revenge and Goldeneye 007 we could play for hours (and did on many occasions). Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece, and i still go back and play Mario 64 sometimes too.
  12. i agree with everything here, but i believe the 15 year cut off is mainly for the publishers to see what is going on. Sure, we have no right to scan and share these magazines as if they are our own. However, between the "we only scan mags 15+ years old" and "we'll take it down if the publisher asks us to" attitude, the site is quite likely to avoid any legal complications.
  13. i got mainly decorations for my bar. it's a personal bar in my basement, not an actual establishment. but got a number of limited edition Miller High Life mirrors, along with a custom sign made by a publisher friend. very cool stuff! well at least now you won't shoot your eye out.
  14. Happy Festivus from me to all of you also!
  15. theoretically possible, but i'd say it's pretty unlikely for GameFan to email and say "go ahead and put up our magazines for free download"
  16. i don't really have anything too rare or whatever, but i value them regardless: a Virtual Boy with about 8-9 games. all the common ones. still waiting to find a cheap copy of Jack Bros. (U.S. version) someday. i have 150+ games for my (top-loader) NES. had to build a shelf to hold them all. most expensive games are probably Final Fantasy 1, Bubble Bobble 2, Adventure Island 3 (is that still rare? it was for a while). But also have all 6 Mega Mans and just an excellent collection all around. tons of great games. i think one of my next purchases will be a working ROB with Gyromite. gotta keep an eye open for a good deal on one.
  17. backwards compatibility IS a big deal to me. i like the idea of buying a new system and ditching the old one, but not losing any playability. one of the biggest selling points of the Wii-U WAS the BC. not just with the games, but with the controllers and accessories too. one of the reasons i never bought a PS3 is because when the price finally dropped into my range, the BC was gone, and the older systems that still had it had gone up in cost. i've got 5 systems (Atari 2600, NES, N64, PS2, Wii-U) hooked up to my two TVs right now. if i add any more systems i have to unhook something else, and i just don't want to do that, so i've hit my max.
  18. https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.totalmagazin.de.vu%2F&edit-text=&act=url https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kultboy.com&edit-text=&act=url there's a good start for ya anyway.
  19. this is an awesome name for a mag and it prompted me to download and read it. i was saddened to learn that it was put out by imagic (should've looked at the cover closer) and it wasn't that great of a magazine. thanks for preserving it tho!
  20. i've mourned the loss of instruction manuals for a few years now. as a kid, when i got a new game, i would pour over the details of the booklet, taking in the artwork, immersing myself in the lore of the game's world. Plus, you could do that in the back seat on the way home from the store. By the time you got home, the excitement was overwhelming and you couldn't wait to meet character "X" or try out some of the moves you just read about. my first step is still to open the case and check for a manual. i would always get excited about the first party Wii ones because the book looks thick. But then you realize they print it in three languages and really don't give you too much for involved information. sigh....
  21. that is shady as hell. i'd keep calling until they made it up to me.
  22. i saw this a week or two ago. love the box and the tokens, but the board itself just didn't catch my heart like i thought it would
  23. Nintendo Power #25- missing page 18.
  24. that is a fantastic collection and i'm more than a little jealous. but $950 is WAY more than i'd be willing to part with for them.
