  1. i think this may be the character Reynolds was born to play.
  2. i collect NES games. have 164, including all the best games (all 6 Mega Mans, etc.) Along with that, i have the PowerPad and a R.O.B. (just got the ROB and i'm super excited about it). I've got a Virtual Boy with 8 or 10 games. my n64 i probably have 30+ games. that's the heavy hitters.
  3. i think this is a really great idea. it doesn't look likely they'll make their goal, with only 4 days left, but i wish them the best of luck.
  4. i read this article over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. haven't played all of those games, but of the ones i have, i completely agree! also, tell your brother i appreciate his sense of humor in this article, definitely added to the overall enjoyment.
  5. i've only played two final fantasy games. the original and VII. not really a fan of the OG (nes rpgs are rather limited for my tastes) but have played 7 countless times. i've owned a couple of strategy guides on it (still have one of them!) and still have my original black backed release of it for the first PlayStation. it's still a gut-punch when Aeris dies. interested in following the developments with this game but don't see myself picking it up.
  6. oh, don't get me wrong, i think this find is amazing. the "what if" of the Nintendo/Sony partnership has been a question for a long time, especially considering what happened a year or two after the split. the fact that a prototype console like this even exists is mindblowing. i've had numerous people (that aren't even into video games) mention this to me in the last couple of days, which speaks to itself as far as impact.
  7. yes, i was talking to a friend about this (he suggested i try to buy it since i'm into vintage video games) and i pointed out that i wouldn't pay very much for it because it doesn't do anything. sure, it would be cool to have and display, but 99% of people don't know what it is, plus there's ZERO games for it. if it sells anytime soon i could see it going for a high price due to all the publicity and hype around it, but that's about it.
  8. a buddy pointed this out to me yesterday. i don't think i can possibly be more excited. as a 10ish year old, i LOVED crystal pepsi. and then it was just gone. i have legitimately been waiting for this day for 20+ years.
  9. got a friend to scan the missing page. hope it's helpful. i formatted it as good as i could to fit into the current .cbr file: but i also uploaded a new version (renamed the jpgs and combined the page spreads into one file): https://mega.co.nz/#!vUgnTTCT!BOg6d2Zr_Fc_97-uK-rORyqiVShjsg4kLopmsGISzL8 edit: looks like you'll have to copy and paste the link, as the exclamation mark ruins the clickability of it.
  10. your system(s) are most likely the problem, as opposed to your games. don't neglect them in your cleaning.
  11. "the consoles of 2015"? dear EGM: thanks for the "very special" look at consoles that debuted in 2013 (and older for the Wii-U). i wasn't sure which one i was interested in, but your article cleared up all the confusion. one last question. which system can i still play my Sega Genesis cartridges on?
  12. i was at the store today, and while waiting for my wife, i was browsing the magazine section. there was not a single video game magazine on the racks. not one. i may have died a little inside.
  13. i've been a hardcore Diablo fan since the original (i even got the d1 expansion, Hellfire!) d3 just didn't hook me right away. maybe because i don't play online and couldn't care less about the auction house, but the game was just too linear. no sense of exploration. but i occasionally will still turn it on and crack some skulls for a few hours. i still have fun playing it but it doesn't have the same hook as d2 for me.
  14. Nintendo Power always has, and always will be my go-to source for information on NES games. their connection with Nintendo gave out "insider info" before the other mags regarding future projects, and they always worked to hype upcoming games. it always worked on me. granted, they were always biased towards big N games, but they legitimately were always among the best. also, it was my first exposure to gaming mags, so it holds a special place in my heart. i loved the "excessive crap" and looked forward to checking out the comics, power rankings, etc.
  15. i don't really have any "new" hobbies, but let me share some of my more obsessive ones: -comic books. almost 3 years ago, i decided to try and read every Batman comic. That starts with Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and continues to this very day. to make matters more complicated, i'm also including all (or mostly all) bat-centric titles also. this includes, but is not limited to, Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, Birds of Prey, and countless miniseries and oneshots. we're talking over a hundred titles per year for every year since the 90s. i'm currently about halfway thru 2002, so i have made some incredible progress and am starting to be worried about what to do when i hit 2011 (the end of the current timeline). as an aside, i've also started scanning and uploading a few comics here and there. not much different than the purpose of this site, but on a much smaller scale (a 20 page comic vs a 100+ page or more gaming mag). i have new admiration for anyone that does this, as it takes quite a bit of work. -pro wrestling. i grew up a fan of wrestling in the '80s. "Macho Man" Randy Savage has always been my favorite. i didn't watch it religiously until the mid '90s, tho. wrestling hit its apex and most popular time. Steve Austin, the nWo, i'm sure you remember. well, i haven't watched it in a long time, as the current stuff doesn't do it for me anymore. so a couple years ago, i decided to rewatch all of that "attitude era" stuff in real time, so i am tracking down every torrent or youtube channel i can find that hosts late 90s wrestling and watch hours of it every week. in an average week, i watch 5 hours on Mondays, 2 on Thursdays, and 4 over the weekend (plus 3 more if there's a pay-per-view). that's broadcast time, obviously when you take out commercials and whatnot it cuts the time down dramatically. ironically enough, this weekend is WrestleMania 14 from 1998. -and then there's video games. i've made it a goal to play through and beat both Wii Zelda games (own both, never beat either) before the new game comes out (which, it was announced today, likely is pushed back to 2016). but i also just picked up PokeMon Y and New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3ds. and i'm continuously buying more NES games for my collection. and amiibo hunting took up a bunch of time the last couple months (luckily i'm at my stopping point for the time being). so i keep busy.
  16. what i like the best about it is how diverse it is. wouldn't have guessed MM would've made the top tho. i wonder if the 3ds console sales are counted in part of that.
  17. speaking of Metroid II (which i've never played, btw), it got me thinking that there's a ton of original Game Boy games that could benefit greatly from a re-release. Nothing crazy, even just colorized versions. Metroid 2. Kirby. Donkey Kong '94. Kid Icarus. Super Mario Land. Donkey Kong Land. so many IPs that they're currently using that wouldn't be too difficult to revamp and put up on their eShop.
  18. see, i am very much the opposite. i couldn't care less about the Super Mario World graphics, and SMB is the one i'm MOST excited for. i expected a newer version like NEW SMB, so that's no surprise, but SMB3 was a pleasant addition. i can't wait for more info about this game.
  19. allow me to echo the love for Metroid: Zero Mission. the first Double Dragon is absolutely one of my favorite NES games. II was also good, but i didn't get the same vibe from it as the first.
  20. along this line, i would buy the hell out of a Legend of Zelda game that plays exactly like the original. same graphics, same sound. new levels. new items (hookshot maybe?), new enemies. i would buy an endless number of levels if it kept delivering more DLC.
  21. friday the 13th is a terrible game. maybe you're right, Areala, because i could never figure out what to do, but it seemed like running to random cabins forever until Jason suddenly popped up in one and killed me was a waste of time. i also appreciate that you posted that on Friday. the 13th.
  22. Goldeneye for the n64 is hands down the best game based on a tv/movie in history. not exactly the same thing, but i always had a blast playing Yo! Noid (based on the Domino's Pizza then-mascot) when i was a kid. game's pretty simplistic now, but still not terrible.
  23. i pitched this to my Nintendo rep about a year ago. she seemed genuinely interested in the idea and promised to pitch it to her superiors. never heard about it again, although i can't say i'm entirely surprised. i really doubt there's much demand. edit: the way i suggested it was a Virtual Boy cartridge. the case looks like virtual boy packaging (AKA lots of red) and it includes a cheap pair of 3d glasses printed to look like the virtual boy console. i thought it may be cool to have something collectible beside the novelty of almost 20 year old games.
  24. there's not a good place to buy vintage games where i live. i always check out garage sales/pawn shops/goodwill, but i usually end up picking my older games up from eBay also. new stuff i will go to either Target or Best Buy, because i have friends that work at both places.
